Matthew 26:37-46 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.
Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.
And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.

Little did his followers know what the Lord and savior was going through, the anguish that brought on great drops of blood. The tears of sorrow and despair witnessed only by a single Angel sent to comfort.
For they were asleep...unaware of what that night and the next day would bring. But jesus knew and knows.

Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

This is probably one of the hardest things to do especially when we get caught up in our daily grind.
Days that seem to challenge us and our faith tend to rob any joy that we have sending us to our closet to repent for things said and done. Sometimes it seems like it cant get any worse...sometimes it does.
Its times like these we should remember the night...

...While you were sleeping
did you or a love one experience loss of breath or heartbeat?....
.....did you really put out that scented candle before retiring?
.....did somebody try to break in to rob you?... or worse?
....did someone try to hack your bank account?
.... did someone try to steal your car?

If you really think about we are not in control of alot of our life and the things we can control we can also forget, lose, break, ect.
I picked the time when we sleep thats when we are most vulnerable but also to point out that the most important decision for all of mankind was made while the beleivers were sleeping.

May our Father keep us all awake and alerted to all which is coming upon mankind. Give us oil in our lamp, amen.

Let's keep this verse in mind: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. (Mt 13:25) This is a reference to spiritual slumber.

Absolutely saint. I couldnt express what i was trying to say here as i did in a bible study i taught a few yrs back.
A few people said that it was hard and actually felt like a hypocrite to rejoice and give thanks when there day challenged them. But ...what did or did not happen because of GOD when they were sleeping. We exchanged many scenarios which led to praising GOD for the things seen and not seen...which also can be spiritual.

The Lord neither sleeps or slumbers...for he is like the good shepherd who guards his sheep and lays at the open gate.

The above scripture you posted is very intresting.....i believe this is for fhe church only and not Israel.
The separation of sheep and goats is for Israel .
Why...because wheat is harvested while sheep and goats are seperated.....the harvest points to the rapture the seperation points to redeemed Israel.
Might be wrong in my thinking but its not the first time😊😊

yeah Paul touches on this concept of falling alseep Spiritually

“For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”

Yes there are several

“Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:5-8‬ ‭

of course it’s not telling people not to physically sleep but to keep
Our awareness up and watching keeping our steps upright
