One of the most amazing Gospel truths is the fact that God our Saviour is our salvation. Moses understood this a long time ago: The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my Salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him. (Exod 15:2)

Even Job understood this, which means that it was revealed to him: Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.He also shall be my Salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.(Job 13:15,16)

Even David understood this: The LORD is my light and my Salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?... Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy Salvation. ...Make haste to help me, O Lord my Salvation.(Ps 27:1;35:3;38:22).

And Isaiah spoke by the Holy Spirit and said Behold, God is my Salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my Salvation.(Isa 12:2)

Only the Holy Spirit could reveal such a deep truth to these prophets. They literally believed that God Himself was their Salvation. Not just the Saviour but Salvation Himself. And that is why the name of Jesus was chosen by God for the Savior of the world. The Hebrew equivalent is YAH-SHUA which means that “God is our Salvation”.

Thus when Psalm 53:6 says Oh that the Salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad, it is a reference to Christ. Therefore we read in Romans 11:26: And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

How does God our Savior become our Salvation? When we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work of redemption, God justifies us by His grace, and sanctifies us by placing “the robe” of the righteousness of Christ upon us. He imputes righteousness to the one who repents and believes. See Romans chapter 4. We receive the righteousness of Christ as a gift from God, and thus God becomes our Salvation.

Then we receive the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit -- God -- into our souls and He comes to dwell within us. So unless this righteousness is upon us and Christ is within us, we cannot enter Heaven. It is Christ in you which is the hope of glory. And thus the Savior is our Salvation.

Amen and amen!

Here is proof people were saved the same way in the Old Testament. Belief in a redeemer. And had salvation before committing acts of good works
