This verse if read meditatively says that Jesus Christ was operating throughout the entire Old Testament, and is in fact our only connection to God, including all those who lived in the Old Testament era.
Melchizedek, king of Salem, who appeared unto Abraham, appears to be Jesus Christ of the period of Abraham's generation. David also mentioned Melchizedek and also prophesied Jesus Christ in Psalms 2.
The bible has been much misunderstood because of the failure to read the bible diligently and carefully as though your life depended on it.
The bible must be interpreted literal spiritual.
Thus this post's subject heading "Many are called, few are chosen, means exactly what it says".
The few in bible language are "the elect" also known as "the remnant" and also "those whose names are written in the book of life" or "the lamb's book of life".
The bible is so complex that it talks about one's name being removed from the book of life. Whatsoever the bible says is absolutely true.
Rev_22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy,
God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Rev_3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and
I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Therefore how much more should we be diligent when it comes to the word of God.
1Pe 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work,
pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
Now the lamb's book of life is different from the book of life, and says.
Rev_13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in
the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Rev_21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but
they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
If anyone would like to comment on the difference between the book of life vs the lamb's book of life, I wouldn't mind hearing your view.
