If the Earth were a globe, an observer who should ascend above its surface would have to look downwards at the horizon (if it be possible to conceive of a horizon at all under such circumstances) even as astronomical diagrams indicate—at angles varying from ten to nearly fifty degrees below the “horizontal” line of sight! (It is just as absurd as it would be to be taught that when we look at a man full in the face we are looking down at his feet!) But, as no observer in the clouds, or upon any eminence on the earth, has ever had to do so, it follows that the diagrams spoken of are imaginary and false; that the theory which requires such things to prop it up is equally airy and untrue; and that we have a substantial proof that Earth is not a globe.

If the Earth were a globe, it would certainly have to be as large as it is said to be—twenty-five thousand miles in circumference. Now, the thing which is called a “proof” of the Earth’s roundness, and which is presented to children at school, is, that if we stand on the sea-shore we may see the ships, as they approach us, absolutely “coming up,” and that, as we are able to see the highest parts of these ships first, it is because the lower parts are “behind the earth’s curve.” Now, since, if this were the case—that is, if the lower parts of these ships were behind a “hill of water” at all—the size of the Earth, indicated by such a curve as this, would be so small that it would only be big enough to hold the people of a parish, if they could get all round it, instead of the nations of the world, it follows that the idea is preposterous; that the appearance is due to another and to some reasonable cause; and that, instead of being a proof of the globular form of the Earth, it is a proof that Earth is not a globe.

It is often said that, if the Earth were flat, we could see all over it! This is the result of ignorance. If we stand on the level surface of a plain or a prairie, and take notice, we shall find that the horizon is formed at about three miles all around us: that is, the ground appears to rise up until, at that distance, it seems on a level with the eye-line or line of sight. Consequently, objects no higher than we stand—say, six feet—and which are at that distance (three miles), have reached the “vanishing point,” and are beyond the sphere of our unaided vision. This is the reason why the hull of a ship disappears (in going away from us) before the sails; and, instead of there being about it the faintest shadow of evidence of the Earth’s rotundity, it is a clear proof that Earth is not a globe.

If the Earth were a globe, people—except those on the top—would, certainly, have to be “fastened” to its surface by some means or other, whether by the “attraction” of astronomers or by some other undiscovered and undiscoverable process! But, as we know that we simply walk on its surface without any other aid than that which is necessary for locomotion on a plane, it follows that we have, herein, a conclusive proof that Earth is not a globe.

.
Side Note:

Solomon was a very wise man; in point of fact, the brightest intellectual of
his day. But Solomon's knowledge and experience were limited. He didn't
know everything there is to know, nor had he seen everything there is to
see, nor been everywhere there is to go. Whereas Christ's knowledge is
extremely vast.

Col 2:3 . . Carefully concealed in him are all the treasures of wisdom and
of knowledge.

Christ, in his capacity as the Word, created everything existing in the current
cosmos.

John 1:3 . . All things came into existence through him, and apart from
him not even one thing came into existence.

So then, it only stands to reason that Christ would know more about the
afterlife than Solomon because the Word has actually seen it for himself,
whereas Solomon hadn't seen anything beyond the grave when he penned
Ecclesiastes.

A good rule of thumb to apply when the teachings of Solomon and Jesus
collide, is to keep in mind that Jesus is Solomon's superior, viz: Jesus'
teachings trump Solomon's.

Matt 12:42 . .The queen of the south will be raised up in the judgment
with this generation and will condemn it; because she came from the ends of
the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, but, look! something more than
Solomon is here.

John 3:31 . . He that comes from above is over all others.

And Jesus comes highly recommended too.

Matt 17:5 . . This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved; listen to
him.

So then, when encountering remarks in the book of Ecclesiastes that are out
of step with Jesus' teachings in the New Testament; my unsolicited spiritual
counseling is to ignore Solomon's worldly view of the afterlife and go with
the wisdom of "my Son".

John 8:12 . . I am the light of the world. He that follows me will by no
means walk in darkness, but will possess the light of life.

By the way, does Flat Earthers think the Earth is stationary, or is the disc spinning out in the cosmos some where? Just curious.
The North Pole is the stable and stationary center of the universe.

What would that make Santa?:confused:

This shows the wobble of the round earth.

View attachment 246689

I see the sun and clouds moving, but I don't see the earth moving. This is just my perspective, which is coming from a caveman.

If you see the earth moving in those still pictures, that is incredible. Please explain when the earth is moving in these photos, because I just don't see it. lol Also, I don't see that the earth is round in these photos either, but that doesn't mean the earth isn't round on the inside.

Best of luck with your still photos showing the earth is moving! lol

I don't know, but stumbled upon this video. Don't ask me if this is real or not, but it's definitely something I never seen before.

This video is suppose to be the North Pole video taped from inside the Russian Space Station.

It's the 21st century and yet there is a push for our intellects to revert to the 13th century mode of thinking the Earth is flat.

Earth must be flat else planes could not land leaving point A to touch down on point B. Because a spinning globe would not allow that.

Goodness gracious who really lives their life thinking that is serious proof Earth is flat.

So, maybe it's time to interject a little humor that also debunks the flat Earth myth.
This guy is a bit brash however I think he makes salient points in debunking FE arguments. Many we may remember reading here. Enjoy. 😉

Finally:

How do we know Earth is a globe? Because astronauts have gone into space and taken pictures of it.

Odd. I've no idea what that's showing me except that it appears to be a video featuring a frame loop.

Are you saying someone can't make a full trip around the earth?

I have yet to see pictures taken that show the earth is a globe, but let me just preface that with a picture is worth a thousand words, and sometimes people just look at things differently.

Is this a bunny or a duck? It's called perspective.

I agree that flat earth makes about as much sense as the sun centered universe, both are questionable.

Why do satellites work?
I noticed you are new, but from this questions you asked, you act like you don't know how to read, but just looking to pounce on a flat earther.

News Flash: I'm not a flat earther, but a caveman.

Just read the thread I posted, it explains in detail about the concave hollow earth. I'm guessing you won't read it and still continue on your flat earth destroying crusade. Best of luck! lol

If you want to find the flat earthers to ask dumb questions to, click on view pole results on the first page.

Just trying to help. lol

Why do satellites work?
The “geostationary communications satellite” was first created by Freemason science-fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke and supposedly became science-fact just a decade later. Before this, radio, television, and navigation systems like LORAN and DECCA were already well-established and worked fine using only ground-based technologies. Nowadays huge fibre-optics cables connect the internet across oceans, gigantic cell towers triangulate GPS signals, and ionospheric propagation allows radio waves to be bounced all without the aid of the science-fiction best-seller known as “satellites.”

1671318651155.png

Satellites are allegedly floating around in the thermosphere where temperatures are claimed to be upwards of 4,530 degrees Fahrenheit. The metals used in satellites, however, such as aluminum, gold and titanium have melting points of 1,221, 1,948, and 3,034 degrees respectively, all far lower than they could possibly handle.

1671318812083.png

So-called “satellite” phones have been found to have reception problems in countries like Kazakhstan with very few cell phone towers. If the Earth were a ball with 20,000+ satellites surrounding, such blackouts should not regularly occur in any rural countryside areas.

So-called “satellite” TV dishes are almost always positioned at a 45 degree angle towards the nearest ground-based repeater tower. If TV antennae were actually picking up signals from satellites 100+ miles in space, most TV dishes should be pointing more or less straight up to the sky. The fact that “satellite” dishes are never pointing straight up and almost always positioned at a 45 degree angle proves they are picking up ground-based tower signals and not “outer-space satellites.”

1671318860591.png

People even claim to see satellites with their naked eyes, but this is ridiculous considering they are smaller than a bus and allegedly 100+ miles away; It is impossible to see anything so small that far away. Even using telescopes, no one claims to discern the shape of satellites but rather describes seeing passing moving lights, which could easily be any number of things from airplanes to drones to shooting stars or other unidentified flying objects.

NASA claims there are upwards of 20,000 satellites floating around Earth’s upper-atmosphere sending us radio, television, GPS, and taking pictures of the planet. All these supposed satellite pictures, however, are admittedly “composite images, edited in photoshop!” They claim to receive “ribbons of imagery” from satellites which must then be spliced together to create composite images of the Earth, all of which are clearly CGI and not photographs. If Earth were truly a ball with 20,000 satellites orbiting, it would be a simple matter to mount a camera and take some real photographs. The fact that no real satellite photographs of the supposed ball Earth exist in favor of NASA’s “ribbons of composite CG imagery,” is further proof we are not being told the truth.
