After getting two Rossi R92's in 357 that had oversize chambers, I gave up on them, and got a Henry .357 lever action. Even though I wanted the 92 action, I am completely impressed with the Henry. It's built like the Marlin 336 series, with the internal round bolt and flat top receiver.... side eject. This rifle is very, very nice... I got the carbine (16") steel, side loading gate version. Genuine walnut stocks with very nice checkering.... they say it is laser cut, but it looks and feels like nicely hand cut checkering does.
My eyesight has gotten bad enough that the open sights just don't work for me, if I want repeatable grouping.
I prefer to not have to put a scope on it, if I can.... so I got a Skinner aperture sight. I got it mounted today, and will try to test it tomorrow afternoon...... if it works for me, great.... if not, I'll have to go with the scope as a last resort.
Here's the rifle, and a pic of the Skinner sight....

An aperture is a real help for me, also a buckhorn sight gives me that sharpening of the sight picture as well.

With all these new members, I decided to revive an old topic. Just to see how many of y'all are also gun enthusiasts.

So here is a thread for general talk about guns, gun accessories, and gun-related hobbies.

Anybody have gun-related New Years resolutions?
Never owned one, probably will never own one. But I DO KNOW that all the government, media, and social media catawalling, and breast beating, in the final analysis won't produce SPIT as far as moderating the wave of murders, and mass murders that is rolling across the country at present. Humans have never been a match for satan, and his folks, and never will be.

That's why we need the Lord.
This is what He said when I faced a Demon who was trying to kill me.

"Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."

I'm not judging you for your choice.
Any of those organizations that
violate the God given rights of the people are directly aiding and assisting the murders. I agree with your assessment of them. God wants His people to have the means to defend themselves against criminals who would do them harm.

I'm pretty sure that if that law is passed, it will be challenged in the courts, and struck down...... I could be wrong, though...

I got to go Sunday afternoon, after church... the apertures made a huge difference.... this was only at 25 yards, and I now need a new, taller front sight, but the group size makes it worthwhile... 5 shots...

Also tested the Rossi in .45 Colt, with newly installed aperture sight.... also at 25 yards. These sights make all the difference in the world for my old eyes....
