The Christmas tree thread.

I forgot I gave my big one to the womens refuge so I had to get a mini tree to replace it. My whole life Im used to big trees with colourful ornaments and tinsel and lights, and the tree being up earlier and later than most homes. This year I just added white lights, its simple but still the prettiest feature in the sitting room

So lets see some of your real tree displays and name 1 thing you are looking forward to on Christmas Day? Im just happy to see my siblings and our kids as my parents have passed so its at least once or twice a year that we are all together the whole day. God is good.

My brother and I used to like putting them up as kids but now that I'm grown, I'm not really interested in doing it anymore
Plus it's a major pain in the rump to take it back down

We have an artificial tree. When the time comes I just stuff it in a large garbage bag and stick it in the shed for another year. Growing up we always had real trees. Falling pine needles were always problematic though. Nice pine scent - smelled like Christmas.

When it comes to the mess I will take artificial tree over the real one
Where is everyones trees or do they officially erect it on the 1st December? I know Im not the only one who puts mine up early ahem @Kireina 🤣😎😍

No improvement yet since I posted my Christmas tree. I GOT so busy...but I will be going home next year around January by the grace of God 🙏🏻 and will decorate my First Christmas tree again ☺ I'll post here 😅🤣😂

Real trees are a fire hazard also

Well it’s good to see that no one (yet) has made this celebration into some sort of massive sin or something like that.

Yeah we are getting pretty lackadaisical about the Christmas is pagan threads. We're already behind by about 2 months for this year's batch.

Without kids in the house, it just isn't the same. I usually put up a fiber optic one each year.

How high tech!

I know that it's a pain...lots of extra work.
But celebrations and commemoration are the things that give life meaning and a richness that cannot be had otherwise.

And besides...it gives the kids some awesome memories. Who else is going to do it?

I have so many fond memories where my family decorated the tree together and seeing the wrapped presents on Christmas morning. And thats what children remember, that family time. And it doesnt have to stop because one is single or an empty nester.

Junk under the tree....I can only remember one to two presents for an entire childhood. But I often remember all the things we did with great clarity of each year. From going Christmas caroling to hunting down a tree to kill. Decorating and baking cookies....all of it.

I've done some outside lights, since I'm on a busy highway to hopefully get others in the mood😁. When I get the inside done I'll share, depending on how well it comes out, lol, jk. Going through yrs of stuff here to dig out🎄

One of my favourite things to do this time of year is to drive around at night and admire all the outside christmas decorations. It makes you think wow I got through another year and I survived Really puts you in the festive mood especially going out to the malls. I wish I lived on a main street to string some lights on a tree or something cool that would make people smile. There was this one time my family went to see the street lights and most houses were so amazing to look at. There was one house that had one string of lights and that was it. So my family and I pointed and ooohed and aaahed over it and took photos as we had done the others just in case the home owner was watching through the window lol.
I look forward to seeing yours Im sure it will look good and yes dive into your treasure trove and get out that ornament you made when you were 6 years old and your parents didnt have the heart to throw out

I just look at pohutakawa trees in bloom at the moment

My dad has his trams decorated with night lights. Hes always going on about them.

I dont have one indoors but a real one that grew from a pinecone seed at the back which is still growing. So if anyone needs any firewood in future thats the tree to cut.

Im not really one to get excited over the german tradition anymore that originated with the British royal family BUT I do have all the Christmas speeches the Queen did. Its interesting reading them.

I am more into the carols side of Christmas and the singing door to door rather than all the decorations.
