In the short time ive been here. theres been good with lots of disappoinment too, some of the forum chat is really disapponinting too a new christian who thought it would be all love n roses here. i know we all have our faults but not sure if the con,s win over the pro,s here.. sorry if a offended anyone, love u all .
Ya know, Christians are far from perfect. But, if we look into a mirror, we learn that we also contribute to that imperfection. (I'm speaking generally here, I'm not pointing an accusatory finger at you.)
I
do understand what you mean. Please don't think I don't. The problem with a forum like this is that you cannot control your audience's composition. In the real world, if you have an opinion or feeling or question that is potentially controversial, some will respond with grace and genuine helpfulness, and others will say utterly clueless things. So, in the real world, you go to those people who understand you and whom you trust. You don't throw it at, say, an entire congregation. Here however, you don't have that option -- unless you privately message someone.
I've considered leaving because, like you, I'm getting tired of threads with people arguing over all sorts of things that really are not worth arguing about, or reading some utterly clueless and insensitive commentary on some heartfelt thing I needed to express. And, I know that I too have unfortunately contributed to that sort of thing as well. A few times here I've had to make public apologies.
I get it. We're not perfect. But, in a forum like this, you have less control who you're bearing your dirty clothes to. And, it's a lot easier to argue with and insult people you don't have to look at in the eyes. Is this site glorifying God?
Sometimes it sure doesn't.
So, I guess you need to decide what you want to do. Do you put up with the clueless things people say and wait for the helpful and edifying? Or, do you say it's simply not worth it and move on?
