Church of Christ

I am just curious.

Is there anyone here that is/are members of the Church of Christ?
I am a member, and I just wondered who else was. Just trying to touch bases and get a feel of this forum is all.


OHHHHHHH!!! And to those who may think that the CoC thinks we are the only ones going to Heaven...well, some may think that way, but I dont. I am not one to judge others for not believing the same way I do. So I really, do not want this thread to turn in to a church bashing thread like I have seen some people do that Catholics. Thank you. Amen.

lol my husband's aunt is a CoC member and I've attended a few services with her when we go down to visit. lol but you'll find I don't care what denomination a church belongs to as long as the members are praising Jesus and seeking Him, sharing His love and growing in His truth and knowledge

stay blessed. lol you will find this forum/ chat site is full of all denominations and some very unique individuals sometimes wolves sneak in so be careful and don't give out personal info. ok?

I am not a member, but have been to the church.

I have been to just about every religion you can think of, The problem I have with the Church of Christ is they worship up the mornon book way to much.

Thank you for your response. I am aware of how forums work and how some people can be snakes which is one reason why I refuse to post a real pic aas my avatar. Personal info should be forbidden on any forum in my opinion.

I'm very strong in my beliefs yet I am one that will not debate others beliefs unless I'm educated on them. I didn't come here to put any beliefs down. That isn't my job.

That is the church of jesus christ of latter day saints. Totally different from the church of christ. We aren't mormon

There are many churches who call themselves "Church of Christ". The ones that Elizabeth is talking about do not in any way shape or form use the book of Mormon.

All church of Christs are self autonomous, and do not follow a doctrine handed down by a ruling body or hierarchy. Jesus Christ is the head of the church, and God's word, as found in the bible is the source of their doctrine.

Anyone call can their church the "Church of Christ", and that does not make it any more Holy than my big toe.

The Church of Christ is a Christian church. It's foundation is Jesus. If a church was founded by man...let's say Henry VIII then the church is not founded under scriptual context.

The Church of Christ was founded on scriptual context. They are NOT a cult.

yes but a lot of cults set themselves up and pretend to be one denomination or religion or another.

I think Harold Camping and Hinn are cults and if anyone on this forum would like to say differently we can start a thread.

Put it this way, if I go to church Sunday and the minister tells me to play with snakes, drink poison, hand over all my money and so on....I will be looking for a different building to worship in.

I am talking about the mainstream Church of Christ. Not the elaborate branches that do strange stuff that I really dont want to know about

Hey, all I can say is I am me. I am far from perfect, and I know there are many people that may cringe then they see CHURCH OF CHRIST. Some members of our church have given us a bad name.

I sin all the time. I have struggles. All I can say is trust the God will see you through it. I don't come here to judge others or condemn others beliefs, but I will defend mine if I see a person is misguided on things.

Besides, Christianity is about an individuals personal relationship with God. No one here knows my heart, but God.

It amazes me how someone came name their denomination and yet people still come in and disparage it even after the op requested otherwise. SOrry about that elizabeth but the bible study forum has its own interesting characters most of which you'll learn to ignore pretty quick

Im my experience with debating if someone comes across defensive and hostile it is usually because they do not have the skills or knowledge to back it up.

Funny how all I said was Church of Christ and suddenly I was labeled.

I trhink that happens because of bad experiences. I have family members who belong to the Church of Christ. They do preach that if you do not belong to the CoC then you will go to hell. I also realized that they are a segregated church. When ever there are conferences and things of that nature, the predominately white churches and predominately black churches do not fellowship or participate with each other.

I do not say this to down grade any denomination but just stating what I have seen and why others may make some nasty remarks. I believe everyone will be judged by their individual actions not by the actions of a group they may have ties to. But at the same time I do question why someone would belong to such groups. But, people may say the same about me too.
