...In Philippians 1, Paul was speaking of some who were preaching Christ
of envy and strife” (v. 15). These preachers envied the great number of
people Paul had reached with The Gospel of Christ. Consequently, they
preached Christ of envy and strife, which the dictionary defines as “com-
petition between rivals,” and “of contention” (v. 16), which is defined as
“a striving to win in competition.”

Like many a preacher today, these men thought reaching the lost was
a competition among preachers, one in which Paul could no longer be
engaged due to his incarceration in a Roman prison (v. 13).

With Paul thus sidelined in a prison, these brethren continued to preach
Christ, “supposing to add affliction” to Paul’s bonds (v. 16). That is, they
supposed Paul also viewed reaching the lost as a competition, and it
would just eat him up inside to hear his rivals were out gaining converts
while he could not.

It is in this context Paul rejoices that Christ is being preached, for while
these brethren were preaching Christ with a faulty motive, they were at
least preaching The Right Message.

That’s quite different than Galatians 1:8, where Paul pronounces a curse
on all who preach a faulty message, even if their motive was pure and
good. God can bless and use The Right Gospel when it is preached with
an envious spirit, but He cannot bless and use a faulty gospel, regardless
of how pure and sincere the motivation behind it.

It's unscriptural to even consider that scripture conflicts or contradicts other scripture. It's man that's confused not scripture.

"Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice." - Php 1:15-18 KJV

"I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."
- Gal 1:5-9 KJV

Php 1 isn't talking about a different gospel. Gal 1 is.

There is also a consideration with what is meant by "accursed". Curses aren't always a bad thing. It is possible that Paul may mean this in the sense of the curse of Christ which he talks about later in Gal 3.

There is also a consideration with what is meant by "accursed". Curses aren't always a bad thing. It is possible that Paul may mean this in the sense of the curse of Christ which he talks about later in Gal 3.
"For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for
It Is Written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things
which Are Written in the book of the law to do them.

But that no man is justified by the law in The Sight of God, it is evident:
for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man
that doeth them shall live in them.

Christ Hath Redeemed us from the curse of the law, Being Made a curse
for us: for It Is Written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:"

- Galatians 3:10-13

Curses sound all bad to me, so, IF they "are not always a bad thing,"
then does that mean that "God's Blessings" are not always a good
thing?:

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who Hath
blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ"

- Ephesians 1:3

I was just wonderin'...

Grace, Peace, And JOY In Christ, And In His Word Of Truth, Rightly

Paul was not envying or striving with them, they were striving with him. but at least Christ was being preached.

Galatians were a different breed, they preached a FALSE message from the worst possible motives. They were enemies of the cross.

“Doesn’t Philippians 1:18 contradict Galatians 1:8?...

Pretty sure they don't.

Matthew 18:7
“Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!”

Here we see that certain things need to be accomplished. It does not logically follow that those who God uses are necessarily righteous.

---------------------------------------------------------

Philippians 1:18
“What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.”

This is speaking about the preaching of the true message. This does not say that the speakers are righteous or blessed.

----------------------------------------------------------

Galatians 1:8
“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”

This is not speaking about the preaching of the true message like Philippians 1:18 is. The situations are entirely different.
