The Gates of Hades are upon us, but it's not what you think

I rest my case.

The real problem isn't so much false doctrine and false teachers but ecumenism. This is the notion that every group that calls itself Christian is in fact Christian and must be given the right hand of fellowship as brothers and sisters. This is a serious problem right now. But it doesn't stop there. Now we're told we must give the right hand of fellowship to any and all who claim to believe in "God."

Two of the most influential and high-profile ecumenists are Rick Warren and Jorge Bergoglio. The NAR too are hardcore ecumenists. When you don't have a solid doctrinal foundation to stand on it's easy to fall for "anything goes."

Don't forget Pope Francis on that list.

Who are NAR?

Bergolio said: "May we live in peace, like on that Pentecost morning when no one knew what was happening." Translated, may we live in ignorance and not rock the boat. This guy is too much.

If this speech accomplishes anything it's that any doubt about what Bergolio is up to are now dispelled.

My pastor touched on this sorta this week
He said if you have come to church to broaden your bibical knowledge, or have insite into whats to come in the future.
If youve come because its the right thing to do, or be imformed on bibical principles.
Then he has failed as a pastor.
He said that his only purpose as a pastor is to bring you into a relationship with jesus .

Sounds like a reason to stay on this chat and try and sort thru these discussions here. Probably better than paying for seminary teaching? Maybe that would be a thread, teaching by chat or seminary, but seems some on here might be in the preaching business and not agree at all. Maybe crazy idea. I don't know. Someone that has been around longer than me figure it out if it is worth anything since I only started Bible reading in earnest maybe 2 or 3 yrs and here on chat since Sept 2022 and don't attend any outside groups except went to AA for 25 yrs and did hear at times people say it was like church. Does anyone on here know what seminaries teach??

yeah absolutely brother that’s absolutely where it is it’s not outside in the world they already don’t believe false doctrines. Are an assault from within and upon those who do believe to try to default their understanding found through believing the gospel

what I mean is there’s no reason for Satan to try to deceive and change what I’m relievers know and believe he’s already got them he’s after believers he’s doing just what he started doing here it’s the enemies only course against mankind

God informed Adam of everything everything was given to him freely d he was placed in Eden with God gods word has secured adams eternal future all he has to do is believe what God told him “ don’t eat the fruit it’s poison I’ll die for sure “

this is the very first false doctrine it needs God to say the truth about something important d then it needs the enemy to try to convince the person it’s not true but this contrary thing I’m saying is true instead

you can literally see what effect it has changing the minds perception from what God had clearly said to what Satan lied about

note before the false doctrine Eve understand perfectly not to eat the fruit but then after the false doctrine he mknd is corrupted and she thinks it’s fine to eat it it will even make them wise

Satan convinced them that God had lied about the fruit it wouldn’t hurt them it was a good thing for them

this is the operation of false doctrine it is always working to corrupt our faith by changing what God said to us and promising the same results

false doctrine is definately within the church thy ye where it can have an effect on a mind that believes satans only goal is to blind our minds to the gospel because he knows this is true and doesn’t want us to hear and believe it

It depends on the seminary, but generally I think they're becoming more liberal. I agree to a certain extent with what pottersclay posted above (#28); but in another way I disagree.

The primary role of a local congregation is to make disciples for Christ and nurture them and help them mature. However, teaching sound doctrine is part of that, teaching the scriptures (not theology). New believers need the help of more mature believers to help them understand God's word correctly; otherwise, a person can get all kinds of strange ideas.

I've never been to seminary and frankly I don't know much of what goes on there. But I do know they're primarily centers of learning, not churches. The kind of teaching you get will probably depend on what denomination the seminary is associated with; you'll be fed the party line. I think you can also get secular training and degrees at seminaries. A person may learn something about being a Christian and walking with the Lord at a seminary in spite of their training, not because of it. Mostly they'll finish with their heads filled with a lot of useless theology.

How do you have a right relationship with Jesus without knowledge of Biblical principals? Isn't the lack of understanding of Biblical principals the reason so many are being led astray by these rogue churches?

Jesus said in the future many of His will turn away from Him because they were not prepared for what is coming. How do you keep from turning away from Jesus without insight into what is coming?

The Bible says 'do not forsake the assembly'. Does that not make participating in the assembly the right thing to do?

It's like anything else. They were talked into it.

Look at the number of apostate churches making news.

God was very clear. Homosexuality is an abomination to him.

We have Apostate churches turning from that word and being talked 7nto being tolerant of abomination.

Allowing open homosexuals to join the church, enter offices of service to the Lord.

The world's word overcomes that of God.

False teachers appeal to the flesh desires we have and know are sin in many cases but also false teachers go

if we remember what Isaiah foretold we see it’s now been fulfilled

there’s so much to point to Jesus word because it’s Gods everlasting truth that saves us if we hear and believe false doctrines will always find a way to omit Jesus word as the final authority it’s how we can know truth and fable by believing the witness of the gospel Jesus preached and died to validate forever

it’s truly as simple as believing in Jesus with all we have this would mean accepting his teachings about everlasting life and embracing them long with his death and resurrection it’s simple but hard for us to do because we begin carnal and the e doctrine is opposed but it’s how we know what’s true

We need to stick to the things Jesus taught and we will always stay on course we won’t always feel perfect and sinless but we will repent when we realize we did something offensive or hurtful of wrong and we will have forgiveness

Participation for the right reasons.
Heres the thing. Many come to the assembly for different reasons, jesus said my house is a house of prayer. He also said without me you can do nothing. Jesus being the cornerstone and foundational rock is where we should stand.
The bible tells us that all that is written points to Jesus.
Unless ones heart is to know jesus they will never mature in anything. There head knowledge is in vain.
Many will come to me saying we've done this and done that...but what did jesus reply? I never knew you.
My pastors constant prayer for all in our assembly is to know CHRIST....not scripture...not history or signs of the times but CHRIST.

I heard it said recently that a better way to translate the verse is this:

"I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not withstand it." (credit to M.S. Heiser)

That throws quite a different slant on the verse. It shows the Church victorious, rather than cowering in looming defeat.

Amen for praying to know Christ, but to throw out scripture is folly. You can't know Christ without knowing God's word. You'll end with some man's opinion of who Christ is. The more you talk, the more it sounds like your pastor is part of the problem.

Ephesians 4:13...till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God...

The word means to be superior in strength, to overcome, to prevail.

For example the only other time this word is used in the NT Luke 23:23 And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.

It is related to Luke 21:36 to be "counted worthy to escape" or "to prevail to escape".
