Well, yes. And sadly, my dear departed dad was also like that. I personally find the behaviour manipulative and selfish, and I don’t tolerate it now for long.
Even though such behaviour might be imbedded in someone’s culture and thus a common trait, it can still be unlearned.
I was wondering how a Christian living in a society that accepts such behaviour as a norm, which I read might be the case in the Philippines, deals with it when it’s evident in their relationships.

Good question. I have to wonder how real their Christianity is when they show such unforgiveness. The young man we know is Australian. His father is Aussie, married to a filipina. The young man is born again for sure. He wants to honour his parents but they are making it hard. I'll tell him about this "tampo" thing. He may know already, or it may help him to understand his mother better.

In a church scenario, it would be important for the older generation of women, those that have been with the Lord for some time, to at least warn any of their number that might display such behaviour about how counterproductive to a relationship it is. I’m not meaning to pick on Filipinas here, because we Aussies have been known to tell everyone how it is, being up front, without understanding how confrontational and hurtful that can be.
I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile for a couple from two different cultures to identify and list cultural idiosyncrasies that might prove irksome to the other, and come to an understanding, pact if you will, of how they ought manage such differences to lessen the prospect of any conflict.

I think its an emotion that is being express to anyone who got disappointed or felt bad or something that the promise was not fulfilled. If you are in a relationship with different cultures it is best to know each others culture and have an open communication will be best to avoid mis understanding. This is a mild emotion between to close people that they can easily say it because care to each other🥰🥰🥰 this can happens between friends, lovers, couples and family
