Those of you screaming forgiveness, go to the families of the people who lost their children and tell them they should forgive Alex Jones to what he said about them. I bet you won't do it.
. The reason the ideology of obligatory forgiveness is inherently immoral is because it places more imports on the perpetrator than the victims
If they're Christian they have forgiven Alex Jones.

''Oblagatory forgiveness'' ? Is immoral?

@Magenta, sister I think you may have been mistaken. At least one has stayed longer than the rest.

Well, an Amish community forgave a killer that shot up their school some years back so it's not impossible or unheard of.

Since the tragedy, people around the world have been inspired by the way the Amish expressed forgiveness toward the killer and his family. But while their acts of forgiveness were inspiring, they also caused a misperception that the Amish had quickly gotten over the tragedy.

I think forgiveness is more a choice than a feeling, as Corrie Ten Boom related when speaking of meeting the German guard that had imprisoned her during WW2:

Even as the angry, vengeful thoughts boiled through me, I saw the sin of them. Jesus Christ had died for this man; was I going to ask for more? Lord Jesus, I prayed, forgive me and help me to forgive him.

I tried to smile, I struggled to raise my hand. I could not. I felt nothing, not the slightest spark of warmth or charity. And so again I breathed a silent prayer. Jesus, I cannot forgive him. Give me your forgiveness.

As I took his hand the most incredible thing happened. From my shoulder along my arm and through my hand a current seemed to pass from me to him, while into my heart sprang a love for this stranger that almost overwhelmed me.

And so I discovered that it is not on our forgiveness any more than on our goodness that the world’s healing hinges, but on his. When he tells us to love our enemies, He gives, along with the command, the love itself.”

I'm kinda shocked that you're saying obligatory forgiveness is immoral when so many times in the Bible we're told to do so. Our sins put Jesus on the cross. We essentially killed him, yet He has forgiven us. Shouldn't we do the same for others, no matter how they wrong us?
Because as I already said, it places more import on the perpetrator than the victim

Not even remotely the same as deliberately slandering grieving families and profiting while doing so.... Also most of us anti-vax "information" is just right wing propaganda... This is coming from the same people who think science is a satanic conspiracy to destroy America

infowars sells items.

they were selling items before sandy hook, after sandy hook, and right now today.

so, this media non-sense that he " profited " off sandy hook is total garbage.

they sell storable food. they sold record amounts during covid.

so, you could say they profited from covid.

but, so did grubhub and door dash.
are they evil for doing so??

You're just full of non sequiturs and false and false equivalencies.
1.. Alex Jones claimed his vitamins supplements treated covid which should have been a criminal offense
2. The vaccine has reduced covid. It's demonstrable. Most cities in America have pretty much returned to normal
3. GrubHub provided a needed service when covid was still at its peak and people were afraid to get out. So you're saying that providing a needed service equates to deliberately slandering grieving families and property while doing so.. please come back to reality

And there are many of us that are both compassionate and seek justice. Can you imagine if Christ had no compassion or mercy towards us? If we all got what we deserved, we'd be doomed to eternal death with zero hope of salvation.

"Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whoever shall smite thee on they right cheek, turn to him the other also." --Jesus (Matthew 5:38-39)
I think what Jesus said supersedes anything the Jewish community believed/had been taught.

I would gently like to remind you to put aside your own feelings and examine, again, the words of Jesus and what He taught on forgiveness, justice, and compassion.

Eye for eye tooth for tooth really just means let the punishment fit the crime so if you profit off of slandering and defaming grieving families then you should hold those families restitution

But Jewish Jesus revoked that and told us to forgive.

Just as the father forgives us our sins.

These are basic tenets of the Christian's faith.

I don't think such things are meant by God to be understood by the natural mind of those like Dude.

I think righteous anger can sometimes make us forget the things Jesus told us to do and the way we are to act and live. I know there have been plenty of times I've wanted immediate justice when someone has done something terrible to, say, a child. It can be hard to forgive. It can be hard to wait for the vengeance Christ promised when we want justice done now. We need to uplift and remind each other to stay on the path and not lean on our own understanding so when these types of horrible things happen, we don't get blindsided by our own desires and ignore/forget God's Word.

What I don't understand is why some people on this forum are going through such mental gymnastics to defend this monster.
Pretending that slander and defamation is a constitutional right when it clearly isn't.
The 13th chapter of Romans where it talks about being subject to the law. There are laws against defamation and and you will be held accountable. Someone who has lost a child, I don't appreciate how some people are showing more empathy for Alex Jones than the families who lost their children.
This man is evil incarnate and anyone supporting him is in no position to lecture me on morality

well, all you want to do is believe what the media says about alex.

you refuse to listen to his show, you refuse to do any research on any of the anomalies that made wolfgang halbert question sandy hook, you refuse to stop repeating the lie that alex sent folks to the parent's homes, that he made loads of $ off sandy hook.

so, no, i will not say anything about morality.

i will say avoid seeking truth like a vampire avoids garlic.

I'm not going by what the media is saying I'm going by what I heard him say. I watched the trial.... I don't know why I keep having to repeat this but he slandered and defamed grieving families and profited while doing so. Restitutions are owed.

Also, couple things here that we've already been over a million times but since you still don't get it I'll mention it again
Occam's razor. The idea that has to make the fewest assumptions is usually the logical path you want to pursue
So which is more likely, an entire town is in on a lie or it really happened what's wrong
I know Sandy Hook is a small town but just try to get 500 people to keep a secret. That doesn't happen in reality. That means the local police department, the hospital, the coroner, the local newspapers would all have to be in on it. Again, it's time to come back to reality
And he did make money using his platform to slander and defame grieving families . The mental hopes you are jumping through to defend this monster. I've said it a million times but I'm going to say it again this is showing more empathy for the perpetrator than the victims and it's morally repugnant
