sorry the reply thing deleted

I just wanted to say if you feeding snakes euthanised rodents i.e rodents that have been poisoned, you'll just end up killing the snakes anyway.

pointless exercise! Snakes already have their own venom thats designed to euthanise their prey. Why do it for them. stupid.
Lanolin,

What makes you think I poison the feeder rodents?
I have never poisoned any feeder.

What makes you think that all snakes are poisonous?
Many are constrictors and prekill their prey by asphyxiation. Other kinds of snakes eat their prey alive. I used to raise a few very valuable venomous snakes too, but did not like to see a feeder rodent suffer from that either.

Why do you say that I'm stupid?
Perhaps you can tell me how it should be done properly.
I've raised thousands of animals, worked in labs, and earned a five year advanced science degree in agriculture. However, I am open to learning something new. .Please tell me what you think I should have done.
I no longer raise wildlife, other than two pets. When I did, I developed the most humane methods possible to prevent suffering. They were more merciful than what is used for putting down livestock for the grocery store coolers.

Please enlighten me Lanolin, so I am not stupid any more.

not sure what the point is in feeding or breeding snakes

Leave them alone. Wildlife has natural mechanisms to feed and defend themselves. When you interfere, by feeding them frozen food, you make things WORSE for them.

Euthanasia is poison, dont forget. If you feed on poisoned food, it will go into the food chain. People learned that from eating food sprayed with herbicides and pestcides, which is why we have cancers etc today.

I am not calling you stupid, dont take it personally, but the current practice of so called industrial agriculture is harmful and stupid and hardly humane.

If people studied ecology or permaculture they would learn better ways of looking after Gods creatures, and keeping everything in balance including snakes and rodents I suppose.

Why not? Life is short. She better start singing and dancing "Hello my baby hello my honey.." afterwards.

I was reading a book about royals called Kensington Palace and well lets just say most of the princes in British history at least behaved abominably..they were promiscuous, kept mistresses, greedy, rude ran up debts (using taxpayers money) or were completely mad.

I cant say much about the princesses though several were also odd and batty!

That's why I quit buying pet store feeder rodents. They were purchased from labs that I learned used chemical exposure, pharmaceuticals, etc and chemicals to put down the rats. I lost a prized boa to that pet store. My only alternative for clean feeders were to raise them myself. Euthanasia does not mean that chemical agents are the only options used. However, keep in mind that the two methods preferred by hospices and hospitals to kill their patients , such as covid treatments, are chemicals and stabbing the lungs with tubes. That's why I warn against hospital treatments.

People breed and raise exotic animals for the same reasons they do cats and dogs.
The feed used in cat and dog feeds are put down with non chemical methods as in scraps unused for human consumption.

well unless you trained in the medical profession as a pharmacist half the time you dont even know whats in any of the drugs they adminster every day to ppl.

Not that much difference between humans and guinea pigs in terms of drug trials.

But then the same goes for junk food.

anyway.
Maybe should feed snakes frogs? If you can catch them. Though not sure why you would go to all that trouble.

I hear the cane toad population in Australia is too high.

I wanted to raise an Eastern Hog nose snake, but they are picky eaters. Most of them only eat frogs and toads.

I've raised a big cane toad once. They are kind of like a big stomach with a mouth on the other side. I can't think of anything in the wild that will eat them, especially as adults. That's why their populations exploded in places where they were introduced. They have an unusually large set if poison glands between the unusually big mouth and stomach. If the predator tries to eat one and survives, they make a mental note to not try that again. Lol !
