When we state that we have a relationship with Jesus Christ, what exactly do we mean, and how does that work out in our life in practical terms?

Does God speak to you, or has He spoken to you in ways that you cannot deny it?

I have heard His voice a few times in my life (three for correction), the other times I have had vivid dreams that revealed God was speaking to me. He also speaks through His written voice (the holy scriptures) and sometimes through my wife while other times I discern what He is saying, but through it all, I still desire to know Him better because that is what eternal life is all about (Jn 17:3; Eph. 1:17-19).

Daily communion and fellowship with my Father.

Does God speak to you, or has He spoken to you in ways that you cannot deny it?
Yes. Many ways. Chastisement is one way. He knows just the amount I need and when I need it. I have come to trust in His wisdom and not question His ways or methods. We will understand everything soon enough.

I have had vivid dreams that revealed God was speaking to me.
Me too.

He also speaks through His written voice (the holy scriptures)
Yes.

and sometimes through my wife
Not so much.

I still desire to know Him better because that is what eternal life is all about (Jn 17:3; Eph. 1:17-19).
Me too.

Amen. Good post.

Has anyone ever heard musical instruments before his coming presence?Every time he saved my life I'd hear musical instruments and a voice quoting scriptures before his arrival.
His word is the whole armor of God and his throne/mercy seat.Everything is created by his word.

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

Well; I think that folks hearing God's voice in their heads should probably
have themselves tested for schizophrenia before the voice orders them to kill
somebody or start a fire.

He speaks to me whenever I have my ears and eyes open.

First and foremost through His written Word in my KJB.

Second, He speaks through His creation as the greatest Artist in history.

Third, He speaks through circumstances that are too coincidental to be coincidences.

Forth, He answers prayers quite often, so I can go boldly to His thrown of grace .

Fifth, He speaks to my heart in a voice that is not to my ears, yet can be heard that He is my Father.

If nobody could hear Him, how would any ever be convicted of their sin?

And when He comes, He will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because
they do not believe in Me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see Me;

I have never heard His audible voice, though how cool would that be!!

However, I have witnessed His work in my life, little by little, faith to faith. I have witnessed confirmation by the input of others counsel and in scripture. The day to day things that happen at work show me, time and time again, that He is truly guiding my steps. I have seen His miracles in the answered prayers often. He has wooed me into the desert, bringing me to my knees, only to lift me in His precious name. I feel His presence, His abiding love, and fruits of His Spirit often.

I am careful with that, though, because He created me with a personality and countenance that can feel things strongly, too strongly at times, so I don't want to label every emotion or imagination as His. I do believe everytime I choose to do what He has called all of us to do, to live and to love Him and others, denying ourselves, it is Him...all HIM!!!

Also, I have had two supernatural experiences that have shook my entire self. He has no doubt shown Himself to me... Oh and I see Him in nature all the time, just as the word says, it testifies.

I do wonder, though... if my faith were stronger, would I hear His audible voice, that maybe there is work to be done?

Please remember that God does read these posts.
I think that folks need to take care not to attribute the things of the Lord to the Devil. God is neither muted nor dumb of speech. He has spoken to many. This is a common occurrence in the NT as well as the OT. Never put God in a box.

"I will pour my thoughts upon you" is a promise of God.

You remind me why most Christians either do not hear God's voice or in hearing do not recognise that it is God.

Because they always expect God to say something awful ... God says such nice things, kind. If [as an exercise] you just spend a while reading everything God says to His people, His children, in the bible. Never mind what He says to the Pharisees. You will see the wonderful things God says to His children.

Please remember and understand that the Lord did not go mute after the first century. God is still the speaking God that reveals Himself in many ways and forms (Heb. 1:1-3). Did you forget that Jesus is still the WORD? Putting the Lord in a box is a problem for the church who has decided not to listen to to His still small voice anymore. You are limiting the limitless God.

By the way, the problem with you any many other Christians is not that God doesn’t speak anymore, but that you and the others have closed your inner ears for lack of fellowship with Him. YpHe doesn’t speak to you because you don’t to hear Him say anything, this way you can still control your “Christianity”, whatever else you call it Mr. Pharisee!

John 10:3–5 (NKJV): To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
4 And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
5 Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”

It is shameful that you attribute the vo
ice of love to the devil. You don’t even know what He said to me. Embarrassing to say the least.

I think you mis-read dear Oyster there.

There's an important side-topic to this. Bear with me for a moment:

If we look at how the mind processes written language, we see that there are generally 3 parts that memory draws upon. There is 1) the visual appearance of written characters, 2) the auditory pattern that fits with those images, and 3) the meaning of the words.

Basically:
1) Sight
2) Sound
3) Meaning

If you practise enough, you can recall the meanings of things without silently repeating the words in your head (subvocalization). The supression of subvocalization is a technique used by some to help speed-read.

It is possible to have a meaning directly conveyed without sight or sound. So even if someone hasn't directly heard the voice of God, it doesn't mean that there has been an absence of direct communication. Someone can have a meaning 'downloaded' directly into their mind without the sensation of sound or "hearing".
