In the Gospel of Matthew, Cha 7, Jesus tells us how to know whether or not our faith is built on a solid foundation:

The Two Foundations.

“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house.s But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.

And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”

And what a foundation it is

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-32‬

Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:51‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63, 68-69‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We grow through hearing and arrive here

“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness,

and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1:21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we need to hear and believe first and that will teach us to act through hearing things like you posted there

“And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:46‬ ‭

If he’s our lord then He’s our lord and we are subject to his word

Jesus made it very clear that he expects much more out of His followers, Christians, than just a 'mental acceptance/belief'.

This scripture answers many questions Christians ask. They ask about works, for works do not save us, it is our faith in Christ that saves. This scripture tells us all about the works we do because Christ asked us to do them, and we obey because we have faith in Christ.

uh yeah that’s why James wrote and I quoted this in support of what you wrote

“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, (repent )

and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. ( believe the gospel )

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1:21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

my point is until you first hear what he said you can’t possibly know what to do . You have to hear the gospel , nd when you do it’s progressive forst he calls you to believe in him for salvstion

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This is why we then pursue him we believe we’re going to be saved as we grow a little bit we start hearing thkngs like this

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we’re starting tomlewrn what James was saying lay aside the sin we used to revel in

and as we grow we learn more details and instructions

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s not as if you say I believe and now your expected to be a pastor and great perfect teacher it’s like a wall being built forst we have to put our faith in Jesus and then we are going to hear his word

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭

if we believe we’re going to now know the importance of his teachkngs and then we’re going to start learning from him ultimately he only expects this from us but sincerely he requires it

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28-30‬ ‭KJV‬‬

if we do that he’s going to teach us about what he expects but he’s not going to dump everything at once we can’t handle that he’s going to gently teach us in progression as we love our lives in faith

“ believe in me and be saved …progresses as we learn “ hear my words and live forever ….progresses as we hear his words ….you can’t keep sinning repent lest you perish ….progresses as we accept it …..whoever hears my word and keeps them he is wise and his house will stand but whoever hears and doesn’t crept my words doesn’t keep them he is like a fool who’s house will fall …..

we have to establish faith through forst hearing that leads to the rest is my point we can know what Jesus expects by hearing what he said but the fact is we only understand the thkngs we understand and are only held accountable table for those things
