'Jesus loves Me. This I know, for the Bible tells me so.' is a children's song. I think that was probably the song I heard most as a very tiny child.
Does the Bible ever directly state that Jesus loves everyone, or that Jesus loves all the little children?
He wouldn't let the disciples forbid the children from coming to him. He told His disciples of laying down His life for His friends, so I can see where we can infer that Jesus loves the children, but if you had to put a Bible verse or verses up to support the lyrics, what would you choose?
I wonder if there are any double-predestination Calvinists who refuse to have the song sung in their church. You know, because those 'Esau' kids might show up? Does anyone know if that is the case?
