Good point.

Two occurrences just a few verses later.

Romans 11:32
For God has shut up all in disobedience, so that He may show mercy to all.

What do you think Brightframe52.

Are we all disobedient and will Jesus show mercy to all?
Galatians 3:22 But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.
Just curious.

How do you know whether anyone's name has been erased from the book of life?

Moses speaks to Israel
Deuteronomy 4
26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that you will soon utterly perish from the land that you are going over the Jordan to possess. You will not live long in it, but will be utterly destroyed. 27 And the Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the Lord will drive you. 28 And there you will serve gods of wood and stone, the work of human hands, that neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell. 29 But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul. 30 When you are in tribulation, and all these things come upon you in the latter days, you will return to the Lord your God and obey his voice. 31 For the Lord your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them.

this appears to be a prophecy, and so it is but not any predetermined effect as shown backing up a couple of verses...

24 For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
25 “When you father children and children's children, and have grown old in the land, if you act corruptly by making a carved image in the form of anything, and by doing what is evil in the sight of the Lord your God, so as to provoke him to anger,

the condition of their heart is the determining factor of their fate here (and, although I don't know if it is exactly the case here, it is fact in areas where it appears that God is speaking to the group, the gramma shows Him speaking to each individual)
and following a few verses after...

37 And because he loved your fathers and chose their offspring after them[c] and brought you out of Egypt with his own presence, by his great power, 38 driving out before you nations greater and mightier than you, to bring you in, to give you their land for an inheritance, as it is this day, 39 know therefore today, and lay it to your heart, that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other.

[c] footnote Hebrew his offspring after him
shows the relativity of God's heart in regard to the condition of their heart

Romans 9:15

Well done.

Romans 5:20
The Law came in so that the offense would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more.

You must be referring to this verse from John 10.

John 10:27-28
My sheep listen to My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give them eternal life.

I will ask you again.

Was God telling the truth in this statement below.

Revelation 3:5
The one who overcomes will be clothed the same way, in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

Is it possible to have your name erased from the book of life?

Or was God just joking with us.

i would say you are USING the TEXTUS RECEPTUS which has ADDED over 251 extra Verses and over 2,000 words that ORIGINALLY DID NOT BELONG IN THE BIBLE!

the TANAKH Daniel Chapter 4 ends at Verse 34!

the TANAKH existed 4,800 years before the 1516 Textus Receptus was ever created!
Just use the Vulgate. It's got a thousand year head start on those other Bibles. A fourth century text, as close as anyone could expect to get, to the original New Testament letters.

Rom 11:32 is technically referring to all of Gods Elect from amongst the jews and His Elect from amongst the gentiles, and yes He will show all of them mercy in their unbelief. They are all the vessels of mercy from Rom 9:23-24

And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

So the all is limited to the vessels of mercy from among the gentiles and from among the jews !

How do you know whether anyone's name has been erased from the book of life?
Its not scriptural. Im speaking about the Lambs Book of Life which I believe are the names of all Gods elect, Christs Sheep, the body of Christ. To say one of them can have their names taken out the lambs book of life, is like saying one of Gods elect can lose their salvation, and the scripture doesnt teach that. Most people who dont believe in eternal security also are proponents of this ideal that God will blot a saved persons name out of the book of life if they dont do right. Do you believe in Gods eternal election and their eternal security ?

I actually prefer the kjv of Gal 3:22

22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

Notice it says by faith of Jesus Christ, which may denote not our faith in Jesus Christ, but Christs faithfulness. See Christs faithfulness to the eternal covenant as the surety of His bride, secures to them deliverance from the power of sin, spiritual life, and the gift of faith to believe.

Sounds like your version must have been man hohoring, instead of God honoring.
the Greek is what Jerome used in 380 AD. it's the most authenticated Greek Text pertaining to closest to original Source possible. it does not get any more truer and factual than what existed in 380 AD pertaining to what existed at that time.

you would have to be a LIAR to say otherwise!

you seriously need help!
There comes a time when you need to shake the dust off your feet. If however you feel called by God to continue fighting against heretical views in order to help people who are less learned, then do so without getting emotionally involved. God bless you, beloved.

Fables, no ones name is blotted out of the Lambs book of life.
Strawman?
I wasn't even talking about the LAMBS book of Life: I was talking about the "book of life". I've been told they are two separate books. Whether that is so, or is not; the Bible says that names can be "blotted out" of a "book of life". Read it for yourself.

No need to ask again.😊📖 The question was answered.
When names are written in The Lambs Book of Life before the creation of the world , and Jesus tells those whom the Father gives him, referring to those named in TLBoL, Jesus will never lose, the names are never blotted out because Jesus will never lose those named ones that the father gave him.

I hope that assists your understanding. 😊🕊️📖✝️

I w3as talking about the Lambs book of life. Nobody's name in that book is ever blotted out, thats like saying one of Gods elect can lose their salvation, and thats not biblical.

10 Things You Need to Know About the "Lamb's Book of Life"

1. There was an Old Testament "book of life." In the OT the “book of life” (or its equivalents) was a register of the citizens of the theocratic community of Israel. To have one’s name written in the book of life implied the privilege of participation in the temporal blessings of the theocracy, while to be erased or blotted out of this book meant exclusion from those blessings. In other words, this book had reference to the rights of citizenship for the Jewish people (cf. Ex. 32:32; Ps. 69:28; Isa. 4:3). “So Moses returned to the Lord and said, ‘Alas, this people has sinned a great sin. They have made for themselves gods of gold. But now, if you will forgive their sin – but if not, please blot me out of your book that you have written.’ But the Lord said to Moses, ‘Whoever has sinned against me, I will blot out of my book’” (Ex. 32:31-33; cf. Ps. 69:28; Isa. 4:3).

2. Not all of God's "books" are the Lamb's book of life.

The concept of a “book” was also used to portray God’s all-inclusive decree; i.e., the very days of one’s life are ordained and written in God’s “book” before one of them occurs:

“Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them” (Ps. 139:16).

But this does not appear to be the same as the Lamb’s book of life.

There is also the notion of “books” of judgment in which are recorded men’s deeds. They serve as that by which or from which one shall be judged:

“And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done” (Rev. 20:12; cf. Dan. 7:10).

Again, however, this is not the same thing as believers having their names inscribed in the Lamb’s book of life from the foundation of the world.

3. The Lamb's book of life lists those who have been (and are to be) saved. ...

Do you mean a Latin translation of the Greek text which was then translated into English.

The latter translations of the Greek text used the Latin text.

I wonder what the source was for the translations in the Middle Ages?

The most notable Middle English Bible translation, Wycliffe's Bible (1383), based on the Vulgate...(Wiki)

Hmmm, you asked a tough question.

Every one who was learned was fluent in Latin during the Middle ages.

Give me some time to reply.

Your claim is that the following verse is meaningless.

Revelation 3:5
The one who overcomes will be clothed the same way, in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

You claim that some Christian's names cannot be erased from the book of life. Hence, God's warning was not a warning.

Further, there is no need to overcome anything as a Christian, because all the chosen are winners.

Thus we can remove that verse from the book of Revelation, as it is a false statement. God is not allowed to erase any name!

Now we arrive at a place no one wants to arrive at.

How can anyone baptized by Calvin, know that they are really one of the elect?
