Sunday 8-7-22 1st. Day Of The Weekly Cycle, Av 8 5782 48th. Summer Day

James 1:19-27

19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
So we tell people to be doers of the Word -----some true Mature Christians may very well know what it means to be doers of the Word but many may not know what this means or how to be doers of the Word ---or why we should be doers of the Word not just hearers -------

Also how can we deceive ourselves by just being hearers of the Word only ---

These are questions that with answers would give us the knowledge and wisdom needed to carry out being doers of the Word and not just hearers so we don't deceive ourselves ------

We need Teachers in the Pulpits not just Preachers in my view

Jesus says this ---

Luke 11:28

Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

28 But He said, Blessed (happy and [a]to be envied) rather are those who hear the Word of God and obey and practice it!

So what does it really look like when someone hears and then does the word?

Someone who does the external commands of Christ but has not heard and understood the message in the heart will not live an attractive and deeply joyful spiritual life.

Hearing from the heart will mean that there is a relationship and vitality of union with Christ which will then show in joyful, deep, meek obedience.

It seems to me that accepting Christ as Savior & Lord of your life is one of those doers-of-the-word things

Look like to me that, Faith comes from hearing the words of Christ, and doing it is when you understand that it is the right thing to do, so why not just do that which is pleasing in His sight?

It also seems to me that believing is not an acceptance thing, but a doing thing.
Most people in the US accepts that Jesus is truly the Son of God who gave His life for all, but most don't live for Him, nor bring forth any fruit to prove they are living for Him.
Whosoever does not take up their cross & follow Him cannot be His disciple.

The devil believes.

Jas 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

Mat 24:46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

It isn't just about thinking, it is also about doing.

So what does it really look like when someone hears and then does the word?
It looks like the Parable of the Good Samaritan

Luke 10----
A Story About the Good Samaritan
25 Then an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. He said, “Teacher, what must I do to get eternal life?”

26 Jesus said to him, “What is written in the law? What do you understand from it?”

27 The man answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’[a] Also, ‘Love your neighbor the same as you love yourself.’[b]”

28 Jesus said, “Your answer is right. Do this and you will have eternal life.”

29 But the man wanted to show that the way he was living was right. So he said to Jesus, “But who is my neighbor?”

30 To answer this question, Jesus said, “A man was going down the road from Jerusalem to Jericho. Some robbers surrounded him, tore off his clothes, and beat him. Then they left him lying there on the ground almost dead.

31 “It happened that a Jewish priest was going down that road. When he saw the man, he did not stop to help him. He walked away.

32 Next, a Levite came near. He saw the hurt man, but he went around him. He would not stop to help him either. He just walked away.

I say ---here you have 2 people who have heard the Word ---know the Word of the Old Testament but did not act on helping their neighbour -----which is the Second command ------

So the First command is to Love God with all your heart ---soul and mind ---only then can you do the Second command---- Love your neighbour as yourself ------when you love your neighbour you will help your neighbour -------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I say ---here comes a person who were outside the Religion of Judaism and who could have walked by the injured man ---but helped him ------He actually put the Word into action -----He helped his neighbour freely ------

33 “Then a Samaritan man traveled down that road. He came to the place where the hurt man was lying. He saw the man and felt very sorry for him. 34 The Samaritan went to him and poured olive oil and wine[c] on his wounds. Then he covered the man’s wounds with cloth. The Samaritan had a donkey. He put the hurt man on his donkey, and he took him to an inn. There he cared for him. 35 The next day, the Samaritan took out two silver coins and gave them to the man who worked at the inn. He said, ‘Take care of this hurt man. If you spend more money on him, I will pay it back to you when I come again.’”

36 Then Jesus said, “Which one of these three men do you think was really a neighbor to the man who was hurt by the robbers?”

37 The teacher of the law answered, “The one who helped him.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Right Faith always requires a positive response to God and His Word -------Faith will compel the person to act ------Faith without Works ----(action-)--- is dead Faith -----
