There is only one type of person that can make it to Heaven, You must be born again

John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

1 Peter 1:23 Being Born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Baptists can be traced back to john the baptist, The Catholic church cant count them as protestant because they were around before them, but at the end of the day those titles don't matter, we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus, And you become born again Child of God, That's what matters, You must be born again

I just regard myself as a Christian, nothing else. I can't see the need to add any other label, in fact I think they just add confusion.

We are supposed to be just followers of Jesus, not of any man or denominational theology. Some organisations out there claim to be non denominational, but they often have an organisational structure and they own buildings, just like a commercial enterprise. They practice certain formal religious rites which they regard as being sacred, which in my opinion they aren't. They are often merely carry overs from the Old Testament, or man-made religious observances and obligations, which have no relevance in the New Testament era of 'saved by faith and not by religious rites or observances'.

Yes, as another member indicated, we must be born again, ie our spirit, which is normally dead to godliness, is brought to life through our faith in Jesus, our belief that He is the Christ, the Son of God, and we are saved from the consequences of our past transgression because of that faith, that belief, that God gives us.

The apostle James indicated that God's definition of pure religion is, that we must care for/look after the needs of those within the church that are particularly vulnerable to becoming destitute and uncared for (eg orphans and widows), and to keep outselves from being corrupted by the world's sinful ways.

In my opinion it's best to reject any attempt for anyone to label you anything other than a Christ follower, a believer in Christ, a Christian, and the like.

I just call myself a Christian. In the New Testament the believers are called by many different names but never Protestants.

As I see it, Protestants are those who broke away from Catholicism; so Lutherans, I guess, would definitely be Protestant.

There's this false dichotomy that a lot of people have bought into. That is to say you must either be Catholic or Protestant. It's just another way to pigeonhole people and bring them into line.

To give a simple answer, Protestant, basically, means non-Catholic.
Denominations exist within Protestant believers, Baptist for example. Basically it's a title given to a collection of beliefs to make them easier to identify what those beliefs are.
Denominations are not a biblical teaching, but rather made up by men to categorize theirs, and others, differing interpretations of the bibles teachings.

Basically I always avoided using denominational descriptors and instead used the term Christian. And I only used Protestant during times necessary to separate myself from Catholic teachings, which are a cult, not a denomination.

It seems as though you could use some extra teachings.

I suggest you would benefit far greater spending your time reading the Bible. How do you serve God or the Faith? Do you do anything to advance the work of the Kingdom? If not, I would say you are not a very dedicated Christian...

Your Profile Pags says you claim to be a Christian and your favorite Bible Verse is Revelation (which is actually a Book of many verses, btw)

Given that, I thought you would benefit from reading what Jesus said in Revelation...

Chapter 3:
15I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

God does not like a "sideline Christian." He has a purpose for all who are called His children. Mayhaps you should decide IF you want to be a part of the Faith, or just sit on the sidelines reading the Bible now and again...

just saying

Not in the traditional sense as in protesting against Rome, but in reality if you're non-denominational, you're protesting against everyone ;-)
