The issue isn't more or less people with guns. The issue is who has the guns. Criminals will always get a gun. More gun laws just take guns away from lawful gun owners.
the criminals are not the school shooters...

That is the topic..

How do we reduce School shootings . not how do we stop criminals getting guns

the argument of gun control or more guns are sidebars to the real issues. What has been consistent in every school shooting?

  1. all males young
  2. drug or substance buses issues
  3. broken homes
  4. parent or family member allowed access to guns
  5. anger and emotionally troubled
  6. the family hid these issues
  7. Schools hid these issues
The home and the school have failed. they teach no respect, and the schools do not enforce the rules, dress codes, or discipline unless it is serious actions. Which school cannot hide during the school day. PARENTS ARE NOT CALLED many are told schools to deal with it. The very 18-year-old who did this shooting shot his grandmother first why? because he was angry he did not graduate.

a small community where everyone knows everyone yet, they all said nothing and did nothing. But politicians cry takes guns and others will cry we need more guns but the issue is

No respect for life and abandonment of God 1. in the home 2. respect for elders 3. fear of God 4. love your children to discipline them before they become monsters.
that is a key point.

start addressing what is creating the issue,

treating the symptoms without treating the cause is not a good way to handle things.

No, I believe the issue is mental issues and we need to take care of that.

Murder is a crime, criminals are doing the killing

There are gun laws on the books now that are not being followed. But in the majority of these situations, more gun laws wouldn't have helped. So you're only taking guns from lawful gun owners and not helping a thing. But the glaring issue people don't want to face for some reason is mental health. Make those laws stricter and you will see a vast change in crime I believe.

Abortions have zip to do with freedom, so that's a poor comparison and argument to use.
Oh, you think my post was about gun control? It wasn't.

It is about hypocrisy.

There are meds for people with mental issues, and counseling. We have to fix the issue, not slap another band-aide on it. No reason for anyone to pounce. None of us has the power to change anything. It's just a discussion.

I don't follow the elephant, it follows me. Your post was apples to oranges. It's not about hypocrisy. It's about finding the issue and fixing that issue. Mental health is the common thread and it needs to be dealt with.

If we are truly Christian we understand "mental problem" is actually a spiritual problem of no vital relationship with our Savior, post #21 was well composed and explanatory, if there are problems here they are not from the Creator, they are from down here.
Christianity grew until the creation of "religions" who perpetrated the error of having to jump through manmade rituals and works created by them to make ourselves right to enter heaven, not the personal, vital, daily relationship with the indwelling Christ that is the truth of being His.
We have squandered the financial blessings He gave us to further His kingdom.
Judgement returns to the place of the original covenant, Mt. Moriah, where Abraham was given the covenant is in Jerusalem, the WTC is just a few blocks from the church where George Washington dedicated the United States to God.
we had our warning on 911 and have failed to return in the 20 years we were given to do so.

Yet, there is a remnant here, and that remnant is enjoying increased power in prayer to seek and walk out His plan for His kingdom.

I was just going to say something similar to this.

I understand the pain and frustration in so many people today talking about "mental health" Which is kind of a catch all term.

And OBVIOUSLY for someone to purposefully target little kids, they ARE mentally sick.

The question then is, what is causing this sickness? I know plenty of mentally challenged people that would NEVER commit such acts. I think they feel shame today for something they didn't, nor ever would, do.

As Christians, we should recognize that somebody who murders 7 to 10 year old children are demonically/satanically influenced.

The best Biblical example of this is Judas himself. Satan entered Judas right before he betrayed Christ. Of course there were 3 yrs of unbelief, stealing from the group treasury, and other stuff, that built up to that time Satan entered and influenced him.

A lot of this is caused by a value system that is under contention for control....and yes politics plays a role but not exactly in the fashion you think.

Because the liberals want to groom pediatric children into accepting and promoting sexually deviant behaviors the conservatives have gone overboard and demonized the entire educational system.
And then the liberals again demonize the education system for their perceived failings.

So we have both sides demonizing the schools...which in the hands of mentally ill people becomes a fertile ground for perpetrating violent acts....as they know such things will get them attention...even if it costs them their lives.

And the fight continues....

Jesus never sent anyone to a Dr. or a counselor, it was all spiritual and cast out to produce healing, even today we are to cast out the spirit of infirmity in Jesus name, now that He indwells the believer who is born again and Spirit filled.
Of course He can work through these people to alleviate suffering as it is His desire for all of us to be whole, in health, and restored.
In this modern age ( of course there is NOTHING new under the sun) we have been deceived by the original liar to think it is viral, bacterial, genetic, mental, etc. when in reality it is of the adversary who ONLY seeks to steal, kill and destroy, in this case the spiritually demented young man took lives and forfeited his own.
Most who have allowed themselves to become this spiritually deceived and lost we don't see, they are institutionalized, incarcerated or dead, as is this one.
We had a person who "saw" a group of little people who were herded around by the patient with an imaginary stick, and if one of those little people said to kill you, that patient would do so, or attempt.
This is the result of a life of inviting sin and allowing it to grow until it reaches the climax.
It all starts with our thought life, and as Dr. Caroline Leaf teaches, most people don't think about what they think about.
After salvation we must ALL renew our minds to see his creation as He sees it and find and walk out His plan for our lives.

The "school hiding these issues" is not an issue. By law the school must maintain the confidentiality, these are minors, they are not guilty of crimes so school write ups must, by law, be confidential. Yes, if the kid does commit a felony then it will be in the public record.

"Family hid these issues" -- how about you, do you want everything that your family has ever done published publicly? What does this mean? If the kid has committed a crime, the court records will be public unless sealed by the judge. What exactly are you asking the parents to do here?

The three things that we should be able to easily see and deal with: Broken homes, drug and substance abuse, anger and emotionally troubled. My understanding of the Buffalo issue is that the school did exactly what they should have done. It was the FBI that completely and utterly dropped the ball on that. It seems to me that english teachers can be trained to include journaling assignments that will reveal these issues before the kids act out on them.

I disagree it is one of the issues and it was done in two major shootings where I believe in Parkland or sandy hook the shooter came to his mother's classroom and killed her and shot the students. It was known of his mental issues and the mother purchased the guns for him knowing this. The school had the shooter as a student hiding him in lower grades because his mother was a teacher.

again by law, you must maintain confidentially of a person who s known to be a psychopath where the public school system all have a psychologist and trained counselors to identify these issues. The Law is flawed. and needs to be addressed. The confidentially of the student can be kept as he or she is removed from the school setting and not allowed to return without documented help.

Gov. Abbott is giving an update now. Dan Patrick Lt. Gov. was begining to speak when he was interrupted by what seemed to be a protester of some sort. They removed him and what the Lt. Gov. said is much of what you are saying. Look at school shootings and when they truly began. Honestly these mass shootings are in our recent history. We took God out of school, there are no fathers in most of these shooters homes and mental illness links them all. We don't have a gun problem, we have a God problem, but that is the last thing unbelievers will see, because they don't understand.

And I would include in that the mental health of all those people who believe life is sacred, right up until it is born.
