Or as the magnet on my fridge says: We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to live the life that is waiting for us.
I've definitely been online too much today. So much so that I'm not seeing straight anymore.

I was literally sitting here and thinking, Why the heck does she have a magnet on her finger?

Just wondering how exacty are people are finding threads more than 10 years old here

I mean have they entered the time machine or what?!

When I go on this forum, I do not see threads from 2009 but it just seems one poster (who I am not gonna name) has suddenly dug them all up?

Is that a sign of addiction? Digging up the past?

The only time I will post on past threads is maybe for 1 or 2 pages previous to this one (if there is a lot of traffic and I want to continue a conversation) OR I will look up a thread I started because I remember that I made one and I dont want to make a new one on the exact same topic. Usually any thread that I have started I will keep replying to until run out if things to say.

Oh and the Last person to post wins thread, of course
I had to beat the addicts on that one..!

If you hover over anyone's avatar beside their post, the "Follow" button is the first along the bottom...
Yeah I know. I was just trying to make seoulsearch nervous.

Silly me. She's been around long enough, amateur moves like that would never make her nervous. She's able to look at it and say, "That's not a real follow. That's just a fake follow to creep me out. Ignore."

^ "Sounds" very critical.
It was clarification, not criticism.

I get the impression you expect criticism of it so much that you see criticism where it is not.

I mean I COULD criticize it if you want. I don't know much about that particular genre, but lack of knowledge seems to be no barrier to people criticizing things.

I'd probably have to make some stuff up though, if I were going to criticize it. I don't have a lot of material to work with here. I might even have to go listen to some music. Nah, too much effort. Making stuff up is easier.

Not so much expect it, but I have seen enough criticism from you not to dismiss it
as a distinct possibility either. It did come off as strident. Any ways, you thought I
was confused about something I was not. Glad we cleared that up :)

Just out of curiosity, and you don't have to answer, but did these two "sexy girls" ever try to contact you? Though I'm guessing this was after CC had a fee for sending PM's, which I'm sure had cut down a lot on some of the riff raff.

I can neither confirm nor deny this story, as I heard it secondhand, but a long time ago, I heard of a member who presented an avatar of a very young, pretty female who started "following" all men, mostly several times her age.

Allegedly, "she" struck up a PM conversation with at least one of them, eventually saying things like, "Well, I don't have any experience with (very personal subjects) and was wondering if I could ask you a few questions about it..."

As one could guess, it all went downhill from there, and then "she" hit the guy with, "Hey, I'm underage..." and then proceeded to tell him that if he didn't started paying her (I don't know she was asking that the money be sent to her; again, this is all alleged,) she was going to start exposing copies of the emails he had sent to her discussing said very personal subjects. I don't know what happened after that.

The moral of the story is, don't always trust what you see, especially when it's going to try to lead you right into a trap.

(I'm a gal and I still remind myself of this. If someone tries to "follow" or contact me online whom I KNOW I would never attract in real life, I tend to put up an extra couple rounds of guards.)

When someones list of who they follow is only compiled of members of the opposite sex, that puts red flags up right away.

if you have an addiction maybe its time to stop denying you have one
and join a group of fellow addicts

But usually its for things like...alcohol, overeating, narcotics
I have not heard of 12 step groups for Christians who pray too much

Or maybe its for those who make longwinded prayers in public, you have to keep em short. If you the person who is stopping guests from eating their dinner when they are really hungry with a half hour prayer then yea ...you neeed help

I think it very likely there are people who are addicted to religion.
Or doing things they believe to be "spiritual but not religious."
It is very trendy, even, to be seen as being spiritual.
Too bad -so sad- about the yoga pants

huh I dont ever look at my PMs

forums arent the place to PM, everything I say here is open to all CCers to see if they want

You need to be careful because, when people PM you, often its actually not a personal message at all its spamming or soliciting for money or something. I dont do those things on CC. This is not trademe.

If ppl are abusing the site for those purposes, then the mods can get into trouble and the site can be closed down because, thats actually breaking international laws. A site like facebook for example, often gets around it be saying 'oh we didnt know' but theres porno rings and drug deals and shootem ups and adultery going on right under ppls noses on there.

for most websites have privacy things you need to sign, you have to be over 13 and you are not allowed to harass anyone, make racist comments, get people to join your cult, fraudelently vote you into office etc.

How do you know what is often in PMs if you don't ever look at them?

Some people use PMs to study the Bible with a specific group of people.

Some PMs are a loose collection of people for the furtherance of fellowship.

Some are more private and personal. Doesn't necessarily make them nefarious in any way.

Heh. You haven't even seen criticism yet.

Ask some of the kids at work, kids who don't really give a rat's butt yet, who use the same glove to handle raw chicken and then handle trays and utensils. Ask them about my criticism. o_O

They're just kids though. They'll learn. Let them see a few people with food poisoning and they'll learn.

Oh, I believe I have seen criticism. The BDF gets a lot of it. I am not incognizant of it

I wouldn't know. I sedulously avoid that terrible, terrible place.

But touche. I did misspeak. I should have specified my criticism. You haven't even seen my criticism.

Pretty sure my worst criticism is a candle against the Nova of BDF though.

when I did look it was just lots of appeals for monetary donations from ppl I didnt even know which to. me is advertising or phishing
and I had experience on other forums of PMs that were soliciting, chain mails and other junk so, I choose not to be involved with that. sometimes thats disguised as personal messages. I cant keep up with that sorry

maybe its changed I dont know, I tell you what I look and see what they are, but theres like 1000 of them
its sort of like on facebook where people just clutter up your wall with adverts , but somehow if its just for you, they think its ok to target you

Your avoidance of it does not preclude your criticisms of it and those who habituate there :geek:
