Peace, forgiveness, moving forward and finding love.

What does it really take one?

My opinion would be finding Jesus Christ and building a strong relationship with him, the peace just develops gracefully and you just let go of all the hurt, bitterness and resentment. You then start building yourself for the best in love with Jesus Christ.....Thank you God!!❤️😘

People let us down. We let ourselves down. The Lord stands with us forever.

It gets real easy to let go of the hurt, bitterness and resentment when you realize the person who hurt you can't touch the things that are really important. The only things that can be hurt by humans are things that don't really matter anyway.

You are so right. Thanks for that insight.

Yes, The Lord lifts us up indeed.
So, when people/we let ourselves down could it be because we didn't seek the influence of God in our lives or daily opinions?

I have an ugly habit of replaying bitterness, resentment like an old LP. It comes like a thief and knows which buttons to push for sure. Mostly against my own self. Where I failed. The things I did wrong. The hurt I caused and the causes that hurt me.

I know a woman who is a non-believer who once told me she had no regrets at all. That looking back over her life with deep retrospection she had no anguish, no heartache. How could that be, I thought and asked her that very thing. She answered by simply telling me that because I was "religious" I would have regrets, but in her case it was ce qui sera sera, qui est fait est fait, what will be will be, what is done is done.

I told her she had a better grip on the concept of God's forgiveness than I did. I still pray for her. Not for my unfaithfulness, but for her fulfillment.

So I think it's human to remember bitterness and hurtfulness, but it's the consequence that molds me in a way. I know how to not make the same mistakes. And I know how to forgive. I think sometimes God allows regrets just so I learn a lesson. God's little class for the "learning disabled". :)

I think it’s in part because we have expectations that are predicated on trust. When those expectations fall short, we are hurt.

Slowly I have come trust fully in the one that always knew me, and has never let me down even when I was unaware of it or even understanding.

While that sounds lovely, it's missing a couple of key components. Perhaps you implied these, perhaps not.

In order to find true peace, you must repent of your own sin (all of it!), and one must forgive others for their actions that negatively impacted you (all of them!). By itself, "letting go" is not a biblical concept. It occurs in the context of repentance and forgiveness. :)
