Can marriage make someone happy?
Many people think so. Nonetheless, what the Holy Scripture says about joy, peace and love?
1 – the Creator’s elation is our joy:
• Neh 8:10 -> “Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” “.
2 – Jesus is our peace:
• Joh 14:27 -> “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”.
• Eph 2:13,14 -> “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility”.
3 – Jesus is love:
• 1Jn 4:8 -> “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”.
• 1Jn 4:16 -> “So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.”.
Understand: Jesus don’t give joy, peace and love; He *IS* all of this. There is no other source of love out of Christ. So, when boy and girl seek to marry each other in the expectance that they will experience the true love in the highest degree, they are deluding themselves. It's not that they don't want to proportion this each other; they can’t because only Jesus is the source of love.
Therefore, if someone gets married thinking on being joy, they will be putting a heavy yoke on the back of the other person, a yoke that they can’t bear with. Hence many marriages end in divorce.
The secret of the success of the marriage is to seek joy, peace and love in Christ and, when the intimacy with Him enabling to afford the giving out all these gifts (in virtue of being overflowing inwardly), only then the marriage should be sought:
• Psa 23:5 -> “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; *my cup overflows*.”.
The marriage takes place when the person, fraught of the Holy Spirit and everything that He is, yearn for sharing this with someone at any time, in every place, without ceasing.
So, have a special day drinking of the Living Water and you, not only won’t thirst, but will be a permanent source of peace, love and relish (John 4:13,14; 7:37-39).
