Free speech is free speech. So if Musk wants free speech there will be no censorship. Only vulgar or blasphemous content should be banned. Apparently Trump does not plan to go back to Twitter, which makes no sense.
If lies are ok, and to be accepted (even defended), so must vulgar and blasphemous speech. Free speech is free speech, right?

I think I'll exercise my free speech rites and scream 'fire' in a crowded movie theater. (No that was not a mis-spelling)

I could swear I've heard about this before... oh yeah here.... "speaking lies in hypocrisy" ... "by smooth talk and flattery they deceive..." ... "in their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories".

This ain't talking about the left deceiving the world. This specifically about someone/something deceiving believers with lies and hypocrisy.

And here you are defending it.

I think it is so wrong that one person has that much money when there are so many starving and dying because they have no money at all.

It's a "Win/Win" for Musk, no matter which way the political winds blow...

Seems to me that, if everyone has a voice, then no one will have a voice. Unless the site is divided somehow, "WWW.town square" is just going to be the biggest argument on the web...

I am defending free speech, whether it is lies or truth. The truth will prevail.

But since the Left suppresses truth and promotes lies, it is high time that free speech allowed people to sort out the lies from the truth.

under the current twitter policies, if i were to post that covid is an overblown, overcounted hoax, and post articles and numbers to back that up, i could get banned.

saying that, which is true and free speech and NOT dangerous, is not the same as yelling fire in a theater,

It's okay honey - I'm not "fire-hot angry" or anything like that - I just wanted to take this opportunity to express just how disappointing it is when that happens.

Nah, my fault, I had just come out of the BDF, they always make cranky in there. I know better,my bad. Not sure Elon is going to stick to his word, though I hope he does. Someone in the news said last night it's pretty bad when we are depending on this one man to bring back free speech single handedly. We shall see.

Defending free speech?! You better believe it. Everyone has that right. And coming from a country that didn't have it, I appreciate it all the more. There are all kinds of people on Twitter that spread lies and have been allowed to remain. Now all of a sudden when Musk says he's going to fix that and allow free speech, liberals hair is on fire. If you aren't for free speech, head north, they'll take you up there. Here we believe in free speech.

Why is it wrong to have money? He's an intelligent man, he's an inventor, he's not inherited his money, he has worked for what he has. I'm sure he donates to charity, he helped in Ukraine. Why should starving and dying people be put on his doorstep? The gov't of many of these countries is the reason why people are starving. It's wrong to envy what other people have worked for. Job was rich, King David was rich, there were rich women that helped Jesus in his ministry. There is nothing wrong with having money, especially when you've worked hard for it. I don't begrudge him a bit.

No actually it's the opposite. More free speech is always the answer, not censorship.

I don’t envy him at all. Anybody who has Jesus as their Lord and Saviour is far richer than any millionaire who doesn’t. I understand he worked for his money but so does the average person. What I don’t understand or at least agree with is how an individual can be paid so much whilst others are homeless or starving and that considered ok with society. There are some people who’s organs are shutting down because of starvation whilst others are bathing in some type of exotic milk in a quest to keep their youthfulness. Doesn’t that seem wrong?

How about Bill Gates? He is a very rich man but unlike Musk, he is actually one of the people behind the desire of a small group of people to take over all the world's wealth and private ownership. He owns more US farmland than any other individual and is forcing GMO food on the world and desires all beef cattle or other sources of natural animal protein to be gone within the next 10 years.

Musk has enabled the Ukraine to have internet service in their current situation by launching a network of satellites. He has just bought Twitter and the left is loosing it as censorship is what they actually do and have been doing.

A simplistic view of the world does not portray the actual machinations of people like Gates, BlackRock and the Vanguard Group. the World Economic Forum slogan is 'By 2030 you will own nothing."

Just a few things to think about perhaps.

No more true statement there. Money sure won't get one to heaven.

I understand he worked for his money but so does the average person.
But that is how America works. You have the chance to try. Not everyone will make it to where he is. But that doesn't make him to blame for what he has.

Jesus said the poor would always be with us. And for those who are genuinely in need this country helps in every way it can. Churches have food kitchens, many have clothing drives or other outreaches to help those in need. There are many gov't programs, school lunches, housing, help with bills. We have many charities and places that take children in, people who foster children. We should never begrudge a person making whatever they make. Many of these people give large amounts to charity, and employ a lot of people. I know there are people who though no fault of their own are poor or homeless, but there are a lot who take advantage and tax the system. Then it gets hard to help the ones truly in need.

So then vulgar and blasphemous speech should be allowed?

(BTW, if you had been paying attention, you would know I'm not a liberal.)

I understand your thinking sister, however that is exactly the thinking that got us in so much trouble in the 20th, and now 21st centuries., through socialism, and communism.

Wealth is a relative term. You and I are likely in the top 10% of wealthiest people in the world. Last time I checked, getting $32,000 (USD) yearly through work or Gov funding, or other income, puts us in that category.

So all those people below us, who maybe don't have refrigeration, sometime go without food, AC, Car, Smartphone, computer... etc... look at us as if WE are Elon Musk.

WE are all responsible for the gifts, treasures, and time God has given us.

I get EXTREMELY nervous for society when people start saying this one or that one has too much.

I like Elon Musk. I think he's on the right path. He is in favor of freedom and liberty, and generally conservative in that respect. God could do great things with him if he comes to Full Salvation in Jesus Christ. As yet, Musk has not given his life to the Lord, as far as we know. I pray that he does, and who knows what we may see if that happens. But all in all, regarding Twitter being freer, I think it's a good step.

God Bless.

And you think social media has none of that now? LOL! That, by the way, is a classical red herring argument. That is not what Musk means when he says 'free speech' and not what most of us think either. Why do you think of it?

I went to a republican neighborhood meeting once. It was at supper time but there were no food. I suggested we call for a pizza. So everyone pitched in and I ordered the pizza. When it came, since it was my idea I went to the table first. The pie was cut into 10 slices, I took 9. Everyone else complained and moaned about having to share that one last slice, especially when they had all pitched in to get it. "It was my idea, and I was first in line, so it's my right to take as much as I want!" was my reply. Sheesh, I thought this was a conservative group, Yet here they were whining like a bunch of entitled libtards!

THAT is how America works.

As for discussion on wealth in general, don't forget (1) what the Lord said about the Rich Man and Lazarus, and (2) what Zaccheus did after the Lord touched his heart and how, in response, the Lord said, "Today Salvation has come to this house [of Zaccheus]".

Luke 19: "
5When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” 6So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.

7All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”

8But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

9Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”"

We can't judge any individual's personal intentions, and we don't know everything about their situation. But it is ABSOLUTELY TRUE that those of us blessed with God's Wealth have to do a better job of distributing a fair share to the poor. The Rich Man, because he despised Lazarus, and never had love toward him, was judged by God for that sin of greed, and thus sent to hell, while Lazarus went to Heaven.

That is exactly how it was presented by Nehemiah. 'Free speech means lies are allowed!'. Except he then starts to exempt speech HE doesn't like, namely vulgar and blasphemous speech. Why is freedom absolute, right up until it allows something YOU don't like?
