What is resistance in the Bible and what does it mean for believers? How can we resist the devil so that he will flee from us?

In 2 Chronicles chapter 20 Jehosophat was surrounded by enemies (Ammon, Moab and mt Seir) who were going to invade his kingdom and take his land, but he asked God for help as he was only a small kingdom with no big army and his enemies were much greater. Jehosophat said the battle was the Lords, he fasted and prayed and the day of the invasion he got everyone to just stand sing praises to God.

What happened was God set 'ambushments' against the enemies and they started attacking each other instead.

I just wonder what these ambushments or ambushes were...? Actual bushes? firewood? landmines? How were they smitten?

The term stating one God and one power creating everything which included good and evil, that power is debated about what is it actually we can believe everything was by one God is like the Sun shining on good and evil not based on behavior limiting its shine, most of us do state nothing is impossible for God to cause the need for both God's creations and evil challenging each others from measures of any emotional fear or bravery which are asked how much fear creates many effects, some cry, others laughter that was hate fear needing to kill to eliminate its power over some people, same with evil effecting or testing your power and mercy can only be so far, pure gold can be mixed with other minerals and isn't pure after that, can still look like pure Gold to people with limited knowledge about mineral purely. Ask yourself how pure in my gospel.

What I was saying was what as problems was also created by what is also created by one power that created all problems we encounter called evil being allowed for what reason is a challenge we debate what ever your posting good or evil as many are easy but can be harsh included by only one power that's very exceptional reality. Unbelievable is debated who created that belief is a serious concern. Is unbelievers lost or fulfilling a test for only belief can be saved. Is that unacceptable for christian who limits Gods power to wake unbelief is your challenge either only certain qualify for salvation or you may become last yourself, first in flesh and blood is called dust.

?

sorry your post dont make sense

Im just asking what God used as ambushments or ambushes so that Jehosophat could resist his enemies

Not saying I dont believe God has the power but how He did it in that particular instance.

This time He didnt make the sun stand still so they could fight longer. He did something different.

To put it simply, God made them see their own army as enemies.
God changed everything they saw in mind only.

Why the Greatest born of woman was it labeled least to least reborn that was inside them not looking outside for Christ like first born always look outside themselves was spiritual shadows, Luke 17: Left a hint about where is God and Kingdom, 20And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: 21Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. So two readings have old wine that looks outside for secular history. The new win is mixing with old wine by reading with secular and spirit, pure new wine has no secular history or time.

The devil is a spirit being and he works on the hearts and minds of people by (a) planting deceptive and evil thoughts and (b) snatching away true and righteous thoughts. That is his modus operandi.

For example, when Jesus told His apostles that He would be "killed" and then rise again, Satan planted the thought in Peter's mind that something like this should never happen to the Son of God. It was beneath Christ to allow Himself to be taken prisoner and then be crucified. Peter went so far as to actually rebuke the Lord! Then Jesus rebuked Satan (not Peter although Peter was addressed) who had planted that thought, and told him that the things of God were worthless to Satan (Matthew 16:21-23). Jesus also contrasted the things of God with the things of men. Which tells us that all humanistic thinking is ultimately from Satan.

So how do we resist Satan? (a) By knowing what are the things of God and (b) knowing what are the things of men (humanism, and all philosophies and ideologies contrary to the Word of God). So after discerning truth from lies, we are to hold fast to the truth and reject the lies. Which means an intimate and in-depth knowledge of what is in the Bible as Gospel truth and Bible truth. Which should be then presented to others at every opportunity.

But there is more to the tactics of Satan. Satan approaches believers is three ways: (1) as an angel of light, which speaks of spiritual deception through false teachers promoting spiritual confusion, (2) as a serpent, which speaks of enticements to sin (through sinful thoughts) using any of the three lusts (e.g. Eve), and (3) as a roaring lion, which speaks of intimidation, demonic oppression, persecution, and even death (using evil men and authorities against Christians. e.g. jailing pastors in Alberta, Canada).

What Christians should now understand in light of the COVID Scamdemic and the Ukrainian war is that Satan (the "all-seeing eye") is at the top of the pyramid of global tyranny and anarchy as we approach the reign of the Antichrist. Two mega corporations controlled by the Rothschilds own almost all the major corporations of the world. The World Economic Forum (WEF) which is another name for the New World Order, has planted its saboteurs in all Western governments to undermine democracy and freedoms and enslave the world, while injecting everyone with lethal and toxic substances. First it was fear of the coronavirus, now it is fear of inflation and food shortages, then it will be fear of the mythical destruction of the planet through "climate change". After that it will be the destruction of all currencies. And on and on it goes -- steal, kill, destroy, over and over again.

Possibly they mistook each other whether it was through their uniforms or whatever

for example, if you are playing a game of say rugby or basketball, you can only tell who is on the other team by their uniform really. BUT the Bible says God set an ambush so not sure how that fits with God changing their minds

The ambush wasnt Jehosophat or any of his subjects at all they were too busy singing praises to God

Also, it wasnt like God set a thick fog or dust like He had done at other times, or dried up the Jordan river

I don't really believe in these conspiracy theories, but our world order does operate under Satan's rules.

I do remember reading how when Corrie Ten Boom and her sister were in Ravensbruck concentration camp, she was hiding a bible under her clothes, and she claims that God must have blinded one of the guards eyes so he didnt see that she had the Bible on her and didnt search her.

They had no way of fighting back their resistance was more like concentrating on God, singing his praises and being thankful, even for the rats. Only Corrie made it out alive.

Years later Corrie was able to forgive the guards that imprisoned her

Hello Lanolin, though it was already mentioned above by @Nehemiah6, being sanctified, by continually growing in our knowledge and understanding of God and of His word is, first and foremost, a necessary foundation for successfully obeying the command found in James 4:7 (and also, for then receiving the promise from God that goes along with that command :)).

The next step involves choosing to believe/trust (and honor) God by ALWAYS choosing to take Him at His word, no matter what. We do this by continually resisting/refusing to accept/believe anything that contradicts the truth, no matter what our feelings and/or Satan may be telling us is true in the moment. IOW, we are to take such thoughts/feelings "captive", over and over and over again, until Satan moves on to look for an easier target to shoot his flaming arrows at ... e.g. 2 Corinthians 10:5; Ephesians 6:16.

Finally, it's a good thing to consider/remember all that 1 Corinthians 10:13 has to say to us in regard to temptation, and why we never have to allow the temptations that we face each day to turn into sin, PTL :)(y)(y)

God bless you!

hmm

ok

sounds good
I was thinking ok we belong to God right

But the enemy might think we are an easy target and try and get us to fall. So we can say NO am not falling for that. But then he might up tactics and try to invade us (our bodies, homes or land for example) what can we say to the enemy to get him to leave us alone is or just totally ignoring his catcalls a better option.

Even if the enemy is paying us a million dollars we can say NOPE am not going to sign your contract /take your bribe

I mean what can we do, even in the face of death and destruction and a huge army ...can resistance really send the devil packing?

Can you give an example of successful resistance in your own life?

Ambushes can be also known as traps.

Well if Christ sent the devil packing in the wilderness, that should be sufficient evidence that you too can send him packing. Also as Jesus prayed for Peter when Satan wanted his downfall, He intercedes for His saints. And it is Peter who wrote (1 Peter 5:8,9) that Christians should resist the devil.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

So how should we resist?
1. Be sober -- abandon all lightness and foolishness
2. Be vigilant -- be constantly on guard against deceptions, temptations, and false teachings
3. Resist steadfastly in the faith -- the Word of God is the Sword of the Spirit against the devil
4. Accept afflictions -- just like Job was afflicted by Satan, Christians can expect Satanic attacks.

The word "Satan" is derived from the Hebrew "ha Satan"(the Adversary). So he is the enemy and opposer of God and God's people. Thus he provoked David to number Israel, and brought disaster upon Israel. David was not being vigilant at that time.

I wonder if God had them fall into slime pits or something.
Or actual burning bushes?

You know how CCTV cameras are meant to prevent crime? I dont know if they actually do. People intent to rob will do so anyway and dont really care if they are caught after they've done it. By the time theyve stolen whatver it is and sold it and got their drugs, or raped or killed someone or whatver they not THAT concerned if they are caught after that.
