That's a bit of a wink to the theory of relatively. When everything is going the same speed then it appears to be stationary. It is only when something moves at a speed relative to other objects that anything can be seen to be moving at all.
The Bible does not say that the earth appears to be stationary - it says that it is stationary.

You're possibly misinterpreting it or taking that out of context because for that to be true in the way you want it to be the earth can't ever move. The earth can move and there are Bible verses about the Earth moving that I am sure you're well aware of.

Ecclesiastes 1:5 ESV
The sun rises, and the sun goes down, and hastens to the place where it rises.

Clearly the human writers wrote what they saw, how things appeared to them. they did not have modern tools to observe the universe.

Please show/tell me the verses you are referring to...
I want to make sure I am responding with proper context because these sorts of chats about the earth seem to be rife with misinterpretations. So please tell me which verse you're referring to that says the earth is stationary. I looked for such a verse but couldn't find any.

I think maybe you're referencing Psalm 104:5 or Psalm 93:1 but I am not sure. In any case, those aren't references to physical movements. If we are going to have a conversation about this then we need to make sure we are speaking the same language.

If you'll study how the Hebrew word for "moved" in Psalm 104:5 and Psalm 93:1 are used in speech in numerous parts of the Old Testament, you'll see it isn't about something physically moving or being physically stationary.

The way "moved" is used is about something being steady and reliable. Another way of putting it, which is the more literal definition, is that the Earth will not waver. It means the earth will not waver, it has good performance, it can be trusted. This is more along the lines of how this should be understood.

For your convenience, here are some to help you understand how the word moved in Psalm 104:5 and Psalm 93:1 are used in speech:

Psalm 10:6, Psalm 13:4, Psalm 15:5

I hope that clears it up a bit better.

I am not sure that I know of any verses that illustrate or indicate the earth moving or even that it can move.

I am asking you to show me the verses you [apparently] are aware of that verify your claim.

I didn't post them because someone answered your question before I did in post #28. Your turn.

Guess again...

The verses listed on the web pages linked to in post #28 support Flat Earth moreso than Ball Earth.

I do not believe that even one of them meets the requirements of your claim.

Why don't you post the verses you had in mind - I want to see the specific verses you claim illustrate or indicate movement of the earth. (Not the sun, moon, heavens, hills, etc. - but, the earth.)

I think you're misinterpreting verses about apparent sun and moon movement as an indicator the Earth does not move, when I just showed you in verse #29 that there isn't any such concrete Biblical proof that the Earth is a stationary object like you originally said in post #21.

As you can see above in post #28, someone gave you the verses you asked for before I could so that should be satisfactory. Post number #29, I asked you directly to reciprocate verse(s). Now it seems like you aren't using your comments to keep the conversation flowing. Are you unwilling to give me verses too? Please let me know when you're ready to continue.

Okay sure no problem I can point out some. I'll start with this one.

This is talking about the Earth's rotation and the sun's apparent movement from the perspective of Earth.

Joshua 10:13
13And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

First - that is your interpetation based on the assumption that the earth spins - not what it actually says.

Second - do you realize what would have to happen for this to play out in a Ball Earth scenario?
