Dear spouse...I spent $1000 on books hope you dont mind

you what?!

Im sorry we wont be getting a new vaccuum cleaner this year.

all I can think about is endless discussions on what the money is going to be spent on...while for some people thats the exciting part of being married, I cant imagine it being fun for twenty years or more. I dunno.

When I worked in retail the boss was always going on about profit margins etc. Shop talk is rather dull.
Look for one in the trash, see if you can fix it. Before trying, google it online to see if it has a lifetime warrenty. I once found a Sharp model that was missing a part. I called them. Had me cut off the cord so it did not have to be shipped to them. They sent me an upgraded, better model, free of charge. Rigid, once sent me a new filter too.

Often companies will dump surplus products at scrap yards. Once, I saw Home Depot Stars at a scrapyard, email Corpriate about this. They had the nearest manager with Police to retrieve them.
I got a $500 dollar gift card from Home Depot.

If you see old desks thrown away, the drawers can be used to make bird hosues. You can take it apart for the good wood. Last Summer I took apart two large tables for the oak. I also repair over a dozen in better shap to donate. I stored them outside under tarps until they were picked up.

In fact, get in the habit of finding out what products have a life time warenty.

A group of us collect computer to repair for Students at Christain Schools. We use scrap metal proceeds to buy parts and software.

I got a robo vac (like a roomba) from the salvation army, some of them, sell for $1000, I only paid $60..it works.

I was offered free books today, brand new, so that was nice.
and even a voucher for the garden centre

Yea I like free stuff. Maybe true financial independence is having everything you want without having to pay a cent for it.
