Lets talk about the rivers in the Bible

How important were they? Are they still significant today?

I think they are very symbolic and convey spiritual understanding In Prophecy

water is often referring to doctrine latter rain that would fall or river of life that would proceed from the throne and bring people to life , the flood that came out of the dragons mouth trying to destroy people …..

Significant yes the river that proceeded out of Eden and broke in all directions is in the second chaoter of the Bible and river of life appears in the last chapter also but notice it’s not an actual river but is showing waters of life coming from the throne

“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

And then remember what Jesus said about the waters of life in the gospel that he would give believers of the gospel

Rivers appear on alot of
Prophetic visions but hold spiritual meaning

just some thoughts to consider

Jesus was baptised in the river Jordan...and is often mentioned in various parts of the Bible, where it was crossed.

When the Israelites were exiled, they sat down and wept beside the rivers of Babylon.

Yes a river ran through Eden and divided in to four heads. It kept the garden watered.

In Egypt where people went cos there was famine in the land the river Nile was able to keep crops watered /irrigated when it periodically flooded

I wonder if any rivers became polluted or dried up it meant death instead of life. The rivers in the Bible seem quite tame I know rivers elsewhere can be treacherous.

When I was given to travel, I witnessed many shepherds in several countries tending their flocks. I soon understood how when each shepherd would call his flock, each shepherd had his own sound and sounds to call his or her particular flock, and the flocks all distinguishes\d their own shepherd. It was wonderful.

Jesus Yeshua did declare that He is the Good Shepherd, and that His sheep knew His voice and obeyed Him.

Another to add to your collection:

God will dry up the Euphrates River to allow the 200,000,000 man army to come to assemble for battle (Rev 16)

Psalm 72:8

King James Version

8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.

Zechariah 9:10

King James Version

10 And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.

The Saint Lawerence River? The French came up that river and planted a cross at Montreal and claimed Canada for Christ. Psalm 72:8 is the official motto of Canada.

interesting never knew

We have a lot of rivers in nz although I live near a creek, and in the early days people would use the rivers as passages ways and also when people cut down the trees for timber they would float them down the river using driving dams. And mills were powered by rivers.

Nowadays people want to protect our rivers because they have become polluted, people would dump all things in them :-(

The rivers contain our fish which we could eat if the water was not polluted, and drinking water.

Are there bridges over the River Jordan?

many important cities are beside rivers eg Paris, London, New York

Rivers of Living Water
“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22:1‬ ‭

“Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:36-37‬ ‭

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24
