Call no man father ?

In Matthew 23:9 Jesus says to call no man father for God is the father (not a direct quote). My question is what about our earthly "father" (our dad) ? Doesn't the Bible say to honor our father and mother ? So is it ok to say father referencing to our parent ? Personally I just say dad, but I've had someone tell me even that isn't good.

In its context, it is a matter of to whom you give authority. Of course children are to be obedient
to their parents, and see them as authority figures. But children were not being addressed.

I don't believe it is referring to our parents. It is putting an individual in a place reserved for God. Some denominations seem to be able to justify this. I don't move in those circles very often. When I do, I refuse to call a priest Father. I'm not even convinced that calling someone "Pastor" is a good idea, especially when the concept of pastor is so debased these days.
