Statue of Liberty needs a nose job

305’ tall STATUE OF LIBERTY given to the USA after the civil war
“Give me your tired, your poor/Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free/The wretched refuse of your teeming shore/Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me/I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
"The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World" was a gift of friendship from the people of France
to the United States and is recognized as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886. It was designated as a National Monument in 1924. Employees of the National Park Service have been caring for the colossal copper statue since 1933.
Civil was ended June 02, 1865

The Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World; French: La Liberté éclairant le monde) is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor in New York City, in the United States. The copper statue, was a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and its metal framework was built by Gustave Eiffel. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886.

According to the National Park Service, the idea of a monument presented by the French people to the United States was first proposed by Édouard René de Laboulaye, president of the French Anti-Slavery Society and a prominent and important political thinker of his time. The project is traced to a mid-1865 conversation between Laboulaye, a staunch abolitionist, and Frédéric Bartholdi, a sculptor. In after-dinner conversation at his home near Versailles, Laboulaye, an ardent supporter of the Union in the American Civil War, is supposed to have said: "If a monument should rise in the United States, as a memorial to their independence, I should think it only natural if it were built by united effort—a common work of both our nations." The National Park Service, in a 2000 report, however, deemed this a legend traced to an 1885 fundraising pamphlet, and that the statue was most likely conceived in 1870. In another essay on their website, the Park Service suggested that Laboulaye was minded to honor the Union victory and its consequences, "With the abolition of slavery and the Union's victory in the Civil War in 1865, Laboulaye's wishes of freedom and democracy were turning into a reality in the United States. In order to honor these achievements, Laboulaye proposed that a gift be built for the United States on behalf of France. Laboulaye hoped that by calling attention to the recent achievements of the United States, the French people would be inspired to call for their own democracy in the face of a repressive monarchy."

Statue of Liberty needs to be cleaned, polished, bringing back the shine of our democracy.

Here's how to clean the Statue of Liberty copper with an old standby: vinegar.
Mix 1/4 cup salt, 1/4 cup flour and enough vinegar to make a thick paste.
Use a soft cloth to rub the paste on the surface of the copper.
Buff the copper item until it shines.
Rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly.
How to Use Lemon Juice and Baking Soda
You can make another natural cleaner by mixing lemon juice (or vinegar) and baking soda into a sudsy mixture. Apply to the copper and buff with a soft cloth. Rinse with water and dry. These mixtures work because the acid in the vinegar or lemon juice strips the oxidized patina from the copper and the salt acts as a mild abrasive to remove the grime. You can also use lime juice instead of lemon.
Once done her original beauty will sparkle in the moonlight.

I-m donating to get liberty cleaned up a bit;; how about you?

Libertas. Roman goddess of liberty. As in modern America, she initially had a connotation of general liberty, freedom from oppression, etc.

But in ancient Rome, freed slaves began taking Libertas as their patron goddess upon their liberation. Many of these slaves, needing to provide for themselves, turned to work as temple prostitutes in order to support themselves. Libertas came to have the connotation of SEXUAL liberation.

You've got the harlot in the harbor, and a winged lion statue in front of the UN building. But nooooo, NYC couldn't POSSIBLY be related to Mystery Babylon.

Nah, I don't cotton much to idols and won't give my money to keep that particular idol on her pedestal.

Why because he knows history and speaks the truth? The FreeMasons gave that statue to us.
Ezekiel
Chapter 21
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face toward Jerusalem, and drop thy word toward the holy places, and prophesy against the land of Israel,
3 And say to the land of Israel, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth my sword out of his sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked.
22 At his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, to appoint captains, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to appoint battering rams against the gates, to cast a mount, and to build a fort.
23 And it shall be unto them as a false divination in their sight, to them that have sworn oaths: but he will call to remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken.
24 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are discovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear; because, I say, that ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.
25 And thou, profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end,
27 I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.
28 And thou, son of man, prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning the Ammonites, and concerning their reproach; even say thou, The sword, the sword is drawn: for the slaughter it is furbished, to consume because of the glittering:
29 Whiles they see vanity unto thee, whiles they divine a lie unto thee, to bring thee upon the necks of them that are slain, of the wicked, whose day is come, when their iniquity shall have an end.

That isn't what happened, try reading the thread again. Someone gives this pitch for why we all need to help donate to clean up the statue of liberty and polish it up. We responded saying no, it is a pagan statue that celebrates the Babylonian gods and was brought to the US by the FreeMasons.

This thread was not started by a bunch of "burn down the idols" nor has anyone called for this idol to be torn down. Simply refuse to sacrifice to this idol.

I should not have said what I did.
Please forgive me
All forgiven, brother. I understand where you are coming from, too.

I grew up wanting to serve in the military. Three of my grandparents served. My people were French, German, and British immigrants to this country. Coal miners, pioneers who went out to Washington state, one of my British ancestors was an indentured servant and his name is on one of the early documents of either Rhode Island or Connecticut (I always forget which). I'm a patriot. Now that I'm a bit more aware of stuff in adulthood, I'm a secessionist, but I'm STILL a patriot.

Symbols are interesting because we imbue them with our own perceptions of truth and meaning. I love "America" the ideal: liberty, justice for all, truth, equality, freedom of speech, religion, press, etc. And a lot of people see the Statue of Liberty representing that. I get it. But I understand the deep spiritual struggles this nation has gone through since the beginning and some of the deeper meanings behind the symbols. So I see them differently.

I wonder sometimes if this is why God prohibited the making of images. Some Christians take a very hard line on that particular OT commandment.

Personally I don't have a problem with making statues, taking pictures, etc. But I wonder if I'm wrong about that. I can see the tendency towards idolatry in the human heart and the inclination to make ANY image into an idol if we're not careful. I will say I don't really see the Statue of Liberty NOW as an idol in the historical sense... but Libertas was an idol historically and as a symbol there are some dark connotations (and Biblical implications) there that I cannot ignore.

The Bible says not to have any idols, it doesn't say go out on a mission to rid the world of idols by tearing them all down.

Our mission is to witness of Jesus and then one by one the idols in men's hearts will be torn down.

I will say that some of them which are openly vulgar or Satanic should be torn down. I personally cannot stand the filthy hermaphroditic Baphomet. If there was one in my town...

Let's just say I'd be sorely tempted towards some petty vandalism.

In all fairness, sarcasm is hard to pick up on through the written word ;)

I usually throw in a /sarc or a (sarcasm) when typing just to make sure I'm not misunderstood.

Ah well, I love my country. USA has provided me more opportunity than she has oppressed it. And I think worship of an object is not the same as appreciation of a noble concept. To me, it makes about as much sense to dishonor good ancestors with bad present day intention as it does to blame present day people with bad historical outcomes. Neither serves much benefit.
