The Perfect Date

It's almost Valentine's Day! Of course here in the singles forum there aren't many of us who have special plans for Monday but that's okay! I was thinking, if you did have a special someone to spend it with, what would you like to do? What would your idea of a perfect date be? It doesn't have to be a Valentine date specifically.

I think a really fun and memorable date would be to go to one of those carnivals near the beach. I've never been to a carnival that's close to the beach but I know they exist because I've seen them on tv. . He and I would ride a bunch of rides together, get in one of those glass houses, share a funnel cake, and then walk around the carnival enjoying the breeze. He would play one of those carnival games and win me a stuffed toy. Of course the last ride we get on would be the ferris wheel, where we would share a kiss at the top of the ride. And then boom! fireworks on the sky to close the night.

Haha I feel like that sounds really cheesy but oh well I think it would be super fun! I look forward to reading what ya'll would want to do. Try not to think too realistically. Just describe what you think would be a fun date.

Hmm... I think something like an Aquarium or Botanical gardens where you can walk and talk at your own pace, or even just sitting down with a coffee chatting.

Someone recently asked me that so it was something I already had in mind.

If we're talking money-is-no-barrier, then...

This would require either two or three rooms at the Opryland Hotel - two if we are married, three if we are single and dating. The rooms would be balcony rooms overlooking the "Conservatory" area, and if we are single and dating two of the rooms would need to have connecting balconies. The last room would be the staging area for the caterers. It would be a nice, peaceful date, on a balcony, with caterers serving us little bites through the night instead of a big meal. I imagine there would be an in-room massage too at some point in the evening. Then we would return to the balcony. Maybe the massage should be the start of the date.

A really fun date would be a trip to Cedar Point in Ohio. No itinerary or agenda, just there to have a good time!!

In other words, a free-range date! 😁

After a while on the forum you start cribbing from yourself a lot.

I have been to Cedar Point many times. Now, it is mostly these awesome roller coasters, but I have been there many times when it was simpler and more relaxed. It would definitely be a fun date for sure. I don't remember much about Sandusky except stopping at a nearby McDonald's for breakfast before entering the park.

Hmmm maybe an outing to a sugar shack in the middle of winter?

Horse cart ride, maple syrup based meal, walk in snow covered forest, cross country skiing, cottage with fireplace to warm up, eat said meal, and share hot chocolate

A free-range date? Well, since Cedar Point has some of the most daring coasters in the world, there better not be any chickens!

I wholeheartedly applaud your most impressive choice @NotmebutHim! I haven't been to Cedar Point in years, but I do remember going on the Top Thrill Dragster when it came out.

It's even more exciting to ride at night!

I was sitting in a restaurant trying to get the "perfect shot" -- if you look closely, you'll see that the front of the photo is a train full of people hanging upside down in a barrel roll on the Velocicoaster (pictured below.) The green coaster in the background of my avatar picture is The Hulk coaster.




I was so happy to be able to get on these both of these coasters multiple times, but you are most definitely right...

It's even MORE amazing if a someone special is willing to go with you.

My daughter and I went to Islands of Adventure when it first opened. I lived probably less than an hour from Universal Studios. I liked the Dueling Dragons roller coasters the best.

I hope my mate whom God prepared can appear at that Day lol daydreaming

Roller coasters are right behind snakes for my greatest fear.

HATE them! Last couple times at Islands of Adventure I stupidly went on the Mummy ride, and then wonder why afterwards. I get zero joy out of it.

Some of you guys hit on my favorites already. I really like aquariums, museums, and zoos, in that order. When I went to school in Baltimore, I had opportunity to go to the Walthers Art Museum many times. Despite the name, the place actually houses a lot of antiquities from this rich guy's private collections. Cool stuff. Aquariums are my favorite, though, have been since I was a small boy. I love swimmy critters!

For something more active, you really can't go wrong with miniature golf or bowling. My sister really liked ice skating for dates and she and her hubby did that a bit. It's a good date idea... but she was actually good at it and I am very, very NOT! I guess if a woman feels like seeing me brought down a few notches (literally and figuratively) she could suggest ice skating. I wouldn't say no if I liked her... but my rear end would have some regrets afterwards. Possibly my face, too. Those rink walls are unforgiving and they never seem to get out of my way.

I enjoy hiking, parks, gardens, etc. too. Some gals are (rightly) wary about hiking for a first date though. Save that one until you know a fellow is trustworthy.

I was at the Jurassic Discovery Center... At Burger Digs, I think? I just happened to walk around the rotunda towards the back, and if you go out the doors and into the open-air seating, there is an amazing view of the park. Have you been to Mythos? I always hear it's good but have never tried it.

Want to know a secret?

I am deathly afraid of open heights. But for some reason, if you strap me into a huge metal or wooden coaster, it's all good. Actually, one of the things I love about coasters is that they simultaneously force me to face one of my biggest fears while at the same time, provide me with what I'm guessing will be the closest experience to flying I'll ever have this side of heaven.

Believe me, once that first drop comes and I'm staring straight down from the very top of the coaster, I'm thinking, "Good heavens, what have I done?!" But as soon as I make it through that first drop, my adventurous side kicks in and I have the need for speed!

I also always wonder if, by some chance, maybe when the operators test run the rides with "empty" trains... Could it be that maybe sometimes angels might get a day off, and are taking the chance to test out what must seem like elementary human contraptions?

Even as a kid, I wondered if maybe God allows angels a little free time now and then, and if they check out some of the ways we humans amuse ourselves.

I can just picture them saying, "Are you serious?! Humans get their kicks out of THIS?!! No wonder our Lord takes so much time and care in developing their character -- if they think this is all there is, they'd better start strapping themselves in now!"

Good question really like it. I had to stop and think ok what is a perfect date and how would I define that. A perfect date to me would be the aftermath. Her having those little butterflies so that when I say lets do this again she says yes without hesitation.

So for me the perfect date would be the time I put into the predate. If I am gonna ask a gal out I genuinely like her or have interest prior to the date so wanna make sure she feels the same or I am getting a green light.

So for example if we are in a singles group meeting at church and all sitting around. Someone says something funny and we all laugh. I am gonna watch her and see if she is laughing did she look over at me first. Does she place herself in places so I have a opportunity to talk to her and stuff as such. Is she in covert ways watching me and how I react or act. As life and experience really has just taught me if a gal is into ya she makes it easy for you. If she puts up little roadblocks then she has no interest in that manner.

So the first thing I do is look for the greenlights and hints that hey come talk to me cause I am as interested in you as well. Then next thing I do is just listen and pay attention. Will ask questions, talk and things just to get to know her more and her interest. Will use humor in a way I can see what facial expressions she makes on a topic or see her body language. Just different ways to gather more data to have the successful first date so can get a second.

Then I just take the data and make the date something I know she will enjoy the environment. So she is in a comfortable setting so it makes the time we spend just a enjoyable experience. So first dates have varied over the dates. Putt Putt Golf, State Fair, Dinner, Movie, Paddle boat at the lake, walking on a nature trail, and just various others things.

So a perfect date is her feeling so at ease that the convo just flows organic and laughs and her letting down her guard so she shows more of who she is. So the perfect date is if all this is accomplished she says yes with a sparkle in her eye to the next date. Or at least this is how I personally would define it for myself.

Start with coffee and lunch, then either bookstores or antiques store, or both... Depending on how long we hung out, I might need a nap... Just because.

Mini golf and a picnic in the park.

Watch a play/musical at the theater.

I also like stand up comedy but have to be careful with that one.

A museum would be nice, depending on the museum.

Walking/strolling around in a pedestrian-friendly walkable town/ day trip.
