Ye were bought with a price is straight out of the jewish wedding analogy. Brides were bought in the days of Jesus. A contract was written up between the bridegroom and the father of the bride. The father of the bride would say to the bridegroom look how pretty she is and I have trained her well to be a good wife. The price was usually quite steep, possibly a couple of years wages so divorce was rare.
No priests were involved but may have been an invited guest as Jesus was at Cana.

Jesus compared this story with the cost of the giving of himself and the price was steep, his own life

a follow up to my last post @Runningman, and mybe something else you have missed.

As you know that Scripture now says that Jesus holds the key to both heaven and hades (death).
Jesus took back the keys of death from Satan by overcoming Death in the flesh.

The death that Jesus overcame in the body was the death that Satan had caused to the spirit of all mankind.

Satan was never the father of those keys to death God was, Satan stole those key and Jesus won them back. the victory was won, no ransom was given to satan only victory and Satan was defeated. Jesus turned death back into life for all mankind. where as satan had turned that life into death by corrupting the seed of wisdom that he was suppose to Guard as a guardian cherub.

John 8:44-45
44Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

Ok i think i understand your interpretation, all tho you have missed something, Jesus in John 8 was also telling the Jews that they where beleiving the lies of satan. and quite possibly using the expression that they where of the father the devil as an expression. for scripture says all spirit has been born of God. and all creatures great and small the lord God made them all.
I think Jesus was being literal because there are verses that support spiritual fatherhood depending on who you obey. In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve obeyed the devil through which sin and death entered the world:

Romans 5:12
12Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

People, not just the individuals Jesus was speaking to, who make a practice of sin are of their father the devil. People can be born of the devil or born of God:

John 8:44 KJV
44Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

1 John 3:8-10 KJV
8He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

I agree with that, but let's look at Hebrews and 1 Corinthians:

and I have a question. When will these verses take effect: in the past or will it be future?

Hebrews 2:14 KJV
14Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

1 Corinthians 15:26 KJV
26The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

Satan is death because that is what satan is to us, he is the enemy that is death to us and was death to us and still is death to many who follow him.
Yes satan became the death. the power of death. surely you see that. Satan once guarded the power of life and destroyed it by stealing the keys to death and becoming that power of death.. satan is death how much more evidence you do you need. its staring you in the face your posting scripture and not even seeing it staring in you in the face.

Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

The last enemy to be thrown into the fire is both hades and death. did you forget about this scripture

Demons really don't have the authority to do anything, and I just totally fail to see where anyone gets the idea that they do. The Bible very clearly states in many places that Satan is a liar and a rebel usurper, and that he totally forfeited any position he had in heaven when he tried to take over from God.

Study Job and we can see how authority is allocated.

Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned.
read the scripture again my freind with this thought,, death spread to all man but satan did to. like you say @Runningman satan became the father of men which was the power of death he held that spread to all men.

i think you should read Job and ask was authority given to satan to kill Jobs children by God., or was the word authority left out in that sentence.

What? Do you want to rewrite the Bible? That question can be raised with any point in the Bible.

Well let's not get ahead of ourselves. I am just having a discussion with you, not laying all of my cards on the table at the first hand. We can gradually play over the next few days like you asked me to.

Yes I absolutely agree with you.

No no I didn't forget about it. Sorry, I don't take the approach of quoting every single possible verse in a discussion. I wanted to leave a little meat on the bone to allow you to respond.

read the scripture again

Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned.

Who is death refering to here.
"Death" is not referring to a personal entity.

You say that death is not Satan. But Read the first sentence which says sin entered the world through Adam , not because of Adam.

Satan is sin and death.
Wrong. The verses below clearly show that the devil ("Satan") is not death.

Revelation 20:10 "and the devil [Satan] who had deceived them was thrown in to the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were."

Revelation 20:14 "Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire." (emphasis added)

Further, Satan is not sin. When you commit sin, you don't commit Satan. Satan is a personal entity (though not a proper name); sin is not.

Just like Satan entered Judas, Satan's sin corruption of wisdom entered through Adam.
Um, no, not "just like". Further, nothing in Scripture even suggests that sin is "corruption of wisdom".

Satan became death to the spirit of man.
Satan accuses and tempts, kills and destroys, but is not death.

By corrupting wisdom that is in all seeds be that man or plant or animal, Satan corrupted the tree of knowledge
Nothing in Scripture suggests that Satan "corrupted the tree of knowledge".

Satan was the guardian angel of wisdom
Nothing in Scripture says that. I don't know where you get these ideas, but you should stop getting ideas about the Bible's content from any source other than the Bible itself.

Read the passage again the first sentence clearly suggests sin entered through Adam and did not originate from Adam. Then the next sentence suggests that sin came from death. Who is death, well seeing as you like entertainment i will give you many scriptures next proofing Satan is death. And became death for all mankind but not on God's authority.
I have given Scripture proving that Satan is not death. You cannot prove the contrary.

are we doing this again with the op? I don't respond to him, but find it fascinating (ok maybe just disappointed) that he continually draws people into his fantasy world of all things lead to the devil

fascinated with the devil and continually does a voice over of the Bible

sorry...not giving you grief at all but wanted to say something smh

why ask if you actually want everyone else to listen.....

There is always the hope that he will listen to Scripture where it clearly proves him wrong. ;)

can't argue with that

I think he attaches meaning to his own life with regards to the posts if I remember right

still, seems to me he is looking for support for his own conclusions

no worries

@Runningman could I have your thoughts on this.

Hebrews 2:14 KJV
14Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

Okay my friend so please tell me your thoughts on my understanding of the above scripture here I'm going to give you some real meat here and meaning. Okay so we truly need to grasp you know exactly how powerful the power of death was and still is. To truly grasp that.

We have to read Romans 5:12 again which indicates the power of death spread from man to man very quickly after Adam.

No we should also notice that that power of death was held by Satan. You also have to tie Satan in with also spreading from man to man very quickly.

Now we know you know Christians a like all around the world and yourself and including myself will grasp how powerful Jesus Christ is his life and his light and his spirit. And his Kingdom.

But do Christians truly grasp a spirit that was breathed into man Adam and Eve created from our kingdom and our father allmighty was overtaken by the power of death that Satan stole , do Christians truly get that. Do Christians truly get what it takes not to be overcome by the power of death.

There is warning upon warning about it throughout the Bible.

But do Christians truly associate the power of death with those warnings,

And do Christians realise evil spirits have that power of death. That has been corrupted by Satan and is in all his demonic forces and beings. Which has spread through out mankind.. would you say it's time for these Christians to wake up
