Here Comes Santa Claus, ready or not

Has anyone actually listened to the words of "Here Comes Santa Claus? I was sitting on a transit bus this morning idly listening to it playing. Then out of nowhere the last stanza played:


Wow. I've heard that song a million times but never caught that. But Christmas is a harmless holiday and fun for the kids so I should probably just ignore it.

He sees you when you're sleeping,

There's no grace in that song-- none at all --no generosity, no altruism, no
kindness, no charity, no love, no peace, no understanding, no sympathy, no
patience, no tolerance, no courtesy, no compassion, no forgiveness, viz:
there are no gifts in Santa's bag; only merit awards for those who prove
themselves worthy enough to deserve them.

Is it any wonder kids are thoroughly confused? On the one hand we have Joy to the World and baby Jesus in a manger; and on the other we have an all-knowing, all-powerful Santa Claus. If Santa's just a fairy story, why not Jesus?

Is lying a Sin -------we tell our Children not to lie and then we adults tell our Children the Great lie of Santa Clause coming down the chimney to bring lots of presents to good little girls and boys -----how hypocritical is that -----then we try and justify it as being a good lie ------

And then we use Santa to manipulate our children's bad behaviour ------better be good or Santa won't bring you anything for Christmas -----how ungodly is that ------

Santa and Satan have the same letters just moved around a little -----just saying

I always found the idea of santa to be creepy I mean you have fat guy who watches you at night somehow knows how you have acted all year as if he has some all seeing eye and judges you accordingly he breaks into your house on Christmas eve and we act is if it's a good thing and he doesn't even come through a door or window he chooses the chimney of all things he doesn't even break in like a normal person not to mention how the name santa is an acronym of satan I mean there is all kinds of wrong with the idea of santa clause.

Now songs like joy to the world are filled with Christmas spirit but songs about santa are just not for me

We live in the kingdom of the world, and we are told over and over by the media how best to live in that kingdom. We are to obey the laws of the world, but not when there is a conflict between them and the laws of our true world--the kingdom of heaven.

There are demons in this world, we simply hold fast to Christ within us. Christmas has become about feeding fleshly lusts. We can make it a celebration of Christ.

Ephesians 2:2 In which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—

It really boils down to parents who have abdicated their responsibility for their own children. Even Christian parents turn their kids over to government schools to be raised by them. Government education is harmless, what's Santa Claus? Just a little harmless fun.

I've taught an anti-Santa message for a number of years. People love their Santa. People adore their Santa. I love it when people put their "Christian" spin on Santa to justify their participation. It's sad, really.

Sounds like someone is trying to be like God.

I know my parents wanted to please us children with a happy occasion but as a child I was distraught knowing that such a made up being didn't exist. He appeared super natural, someone who knew everything. When I consider the knowledge I have today the Claus fable and the nation of Israel, I really doubt Israel would have existed if they had such a celebration. We consider Christmas to be a harmless joyful time of year, but should be a time of mourning. Even as we know the Lord couldn't be born this time of year, we continue on, and because of ignorance and it is a desire of the flesh. Without going into detail over these many decades of my life I have found the Lord's birth was on the day of Passover as well as the generational line from Adam to Christ. In fact, they each were born and died on Passover.

Just checked, it was written by Gene Autry. I've only ever heard Elvis Presley sing it. My father sounds quite a bit like him so he would jokingly sing the chorus to this song. Still does sometimes. Nothing wrong with Christmas. We grew up knowing gifts were from our parents. We knew about St.Nick, the other is just a fable.

We can and we do. This year our family is giving in different ways to the tornado victims. Some are giving money, my sister and her husband are actually on the ground and clearing land. The town next to them was almost wiped off the map. Our family has always helped a family in need at Christmas. We had a blind lady stay with us one year. Another year a lady whose husband had left her with 4 kids came and stayed the Christmas season. My parents, who are far from rich, bought all the kids Christmas gifts. Those kids are all grown today and even though they live no where close by, they love my parents like their own. The end of the story is my father reached out and kept in touch with their father and even though he remarried, he came back to the Lord. My parents always used Christmas as a time to minister to others. In both giving and doing.

Yes, Christmas is a secular holiday as well unfortunately. That does not mean that Christians should abstain from Christmas songs or shun them.

Yes, they should. Especially when you know they contain lyrics that glorify the false christ Santa Claus or "give thanks to the lord cause Santa's coming tonight."

If you don't get that you don't get Christianity.

Please don’t tell what I get and what I don’t. The song Gene Autry wrote is from a child’s perspective of Christmas. I have read the lyrics and in no way shape of form is it alluding to a notion of Santa worship. This sounds purely like legalism.
