While I was laying in my VA provided hotel room for easy access to radiation and chemo treatments for almost 2 months, I was amazed to see the arrogance and pride of the world, seeing that watching cable was the only thing that didn't take any energy out of me, which I didn't have. It seems that the world is and has been running head-long, embracing the sinful nature. I mean I've always noticed it, but in this situation it was kind of in the spot light. It is though they have no fear of God what-so-ever these days! Their sights are completely set on this world and they haven't an inkling of what is about take place!
There is definitely a big change that has and is currently taking place. And it is not just with the unfaithful, but with believers who have gone back into the world and are once again entangle in the sins therein. In years past, there used to be somewhat of a reverence for God. But today everyone's eyes seem to be on this world and prosperity. I get the feeling that they are close to finishing their tower of Babel.
To further my point, I noticed a recent commercial with the tag line which says "What's strong with me?" When they should be asking "What's wrong with me?" It's as though everyone has abandoned the Lord's promise of the forgiveness of our sins and eternal life.
I remember that when Satan deceived Eve asking "Has God really said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’? Satan immediately twisted what God actually said! But Eve knew the answer and replied "From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; But from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die. And Satan's reply was "You will not surely die,” the serpent told her. “For God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” I have often wondered if the worlds desire to impress upon each other their greatness is a carry-over of "your eyes will be opened and you will be like God." Is this what they are expressing?
I also kept thinking of the following scripture which is listed after the 6th Trumpet:
"Now the rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the works of their hands. They did not stop worshiping demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk. Furthermore, they did not repent of their murder, sorcery, sexual immorality, and theft."
Because of the OT, when we think of idolatry, we think of little carved images, whether made from gold, silver, bronze etc. However, the 6th trumpet is in reference to the future.
"They did not repent of the works of their hands."
I have known it for some time and realize that "the works of their hands" is speaking about the making of products, which is represented by the material that they are made from (gold, silver, bronze, etc.) For example, look at the obsession the world has with cell phones and each new version. And that's just one product (the works of their hands). For anyone who is not in Christ, any and all things makes them idolaters, including the worlds obsession with those products that the world is running after, automobiles, cell phones, video games, etc., etc. The works of their hands.
The next part of the scripture is also revealing:
"Furthermore, they did not repent of their murder, sorcery, sexual immorality, and theft."
The word translated as sorcery and/or magic arts and witchcraft, comes from the word Greek "pharmakeia" which is where we get our English word pharmaceuticals from, which is defined as "the use of medicine, drugs or spells. from pharmakeuó (to administer drugs). I believe that this is speaking about the current recreational drug problem that the world is and has been experiencing. As far as scripture is concerned, drug use is considered sorcery.
Just some food for thought
