Wow, this thread is from 2017. Talk about resurrecting the dead. Lol.
My mother inlaw and her husband read that book "The Great Controversy", by Ellen G. White. Now they claim to be sabbatarian, and follow her teaching. They try to impose that crap on us, and it has caused a riff in the relationship between my wife and her mother. I read several false prophecied, and some writings that interpret her words as one thing and she endorsed those writings particularly one book by Uriah Smith. Now the web page for the White family deny those interpretations. Particularly the amalgamation of men and beasts, and the resulting races. She herself distributed mr. Smith's book at conferences, thereby endorsing his interpretation of her ludicrous statements.
From people alive in 1858 being alive and translated at the coming of Jesus, England declaring war on the Union army and reducing the US to dust, to tall beautiful sinless jupiter folk, and saturn folk too. This woman was the most prominent historical figure of the seventh day adventists, and she was a rank false prophet and false teacher, claiming to have direct revelation from God, angels of God, and also from Satan.
Sorry, I see no question here, if you have any feel free to ask :)

How is a person saved today ?
Deep question, though quite simple.
Put your faith in Jesus, and you shall be saved, you and your family.

Act 16:31
31- And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved, and your household.

I think there is much debate on this issue because "believe" is sometimes very empty. In the greek, "belief" is actually pistis which is faith. So, when he says "believe" he means "have faith", not just believe in an empty sense, but the text is telling us today that we need a full living faith. Anyway, we as Adventists believe that faith alone is necessary for salvation.

Does it answer your question ?

(when you say "how", it could mean something else entirely, sorry if I did not answer your question)

Hello gottime.. The Peace of Jesus "The Jewish Christ" who is the Holy Spirit, The Eternal Father, Son of God and Son of man, The God of Abraham and the Living God in His human nature be with you....YOU SAY:<<So I believe in a Trinity. <<

I studied 4 years for the catholic priesthood and spent 25 year with them, I'd learn through their teaching and the Catholic Encyclopedia that the trinity was coined by the catolic priest Quintus Septimus Florens Tertullianus in the year 170..Are they lying? Before he come up with his own trinity, there has always been "TRIAS" by pagans starting in babilon...
Personnally, I do not think they are lying, but I am no historian (I may be wrong, the term "trinity" could come from earlier or from later, i dont know).

Adventists do not believe the word "trinity" is sacred in itself or that it should necessarily be used to talk about Divinity. We frequently use the term "Godhead".

Then again, it is just a term. The concept is the most important and I do not believe we have the same concept as catholic christianity. If you check, the term "Bible" is nowhere to be found in the bible, this is just a term that we use. If we find a better word, I think the church would be fine with changing the word Trinity. Today, many feel like it describes what the Bible teaches, but this is just a word.
If you have more questions than "are they lying", I am ok to hear them and I would love to try to answer :)

Can you answer to those two questions please.....Brother James...
Oh I see you say "those two questions", can you tell me what is the second one, please ?

Amen. God bless you also, my much beloved brother in Christ. My question:

Is it ok for me to just consider myself "a Christian" and forego any denominational labels?
Yes it is perfectly fine, peace be with you in Jesus !!!!!
This is adventist doctrine : non-adventists chrisitian can be saved too and receive peace and communion with God, no problem :)

One verse among many on the topic :

Mar 9:38-41
38- And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out demons in Your name, and he does not follow us. And we forbade him, because he does not follow us.
39- But Jesus said, Do not forbid him. For there is no one who shall do a work of power in My name who can lightly speak evil of Me.
40- For he who is not against us is for us.
41- For whoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, truly I say to you, He shall not lose his reward.

So Christians should support each other, even if they are not in the same "following" :)

Is Jesus Christ present in the bread and wine of the Lord's Supper?
Oh wow.
If this is a question about transubstantiation, then the answer is no.
But if this is a non-technical question about the meaning of the Lord's Supper, the answer is yes.
Yes Jesus is present in all our celebrations, and a special blessing, through the Lord, is present in the bread and wine of the Lord's Supper.

Why no to transubstantiation : there would need a doctrine about substance and about the nature of things that the Bible does not teach. The Bible clearly teaches in symbols, from old testament to the New. Jesus clearly says that celebrating the supper is a proclamation of his death, not actually performing his sacrifice, not actually breaking his body again when we break the bread. On the contrary, the Bible clearly says that Jesus was sacrificed only once -praise the Lord for that.

Heb 9:27-28
27- And as it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment,
28- so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many. And to those who look for Him He shall appear the second time without sin to salvation.

Why yes to Jesus present :
Well, I would just quote 2 bible verses :

Mat 18:20
20- For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst.
1Co 11:29 (the context is about the Lord Supper)
29- For he who eats and drinks unworthily eats and drinks condemnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

I hope it answers :)

If I go to church on Sunday is that sin and if I don't go to church on Saturday is that a sin?
Hum... I will admit that you mean "if there is an appropriate church closeby and if I am a Christian". This does not apply to non-Christians, non church-goers, etc.

Then, I also have to admit that you are referring to guilt. Guiltless sins, that I personnally like to call "technical sins", I guess, are not relevant here. I mean, sins that we commit because we do not know they are sins. I do some every day ! They are not relevant, I believe, to your question since it is taught in Acts 17:30 the times of this ignorance God winked at. (which means that God dismiss, overlook such times).

Finally, I assume that you do not, yourself, believe in the Sabbath.

Then in this context, with these 3 assumptions, I would say that no you do not sin by not going to church on Saturday, but going on Sunday. Which is why most Christians around the world are not guilty of sin by going to church on Sunday and not on Saturday : they just do their best with what God told them! They should keep doing that, and not change unless they have a clear "Thus says the Lord" to change their behavior.

Can the finished testimony of the two Witnesses (Revelation 11:7) be the completion of the Bible Canon?

And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

Wouldn't this imply it already happened and give us a date when satan got authority of the RCC?
Yes the Bible Canon is complete with the two Witnesses.
If by "RCC" you mean the Roman Catholic Church, I do not see how do you connect the two witnesses with the authority of Satan over the RCC.
It is stated that their testimony is for the earth, so if the end of their testimony means Satan gets authority, it would mean that he got authority on the whole earth, not just on the RCC.

Rev 11:10
10- And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

(I acknowledge that "earth" in Revelation does not just mean the planet earth, but it does not mean the RCC neither)
If you can ask more questions, I could also answer more, if this is something you would like to know about SDAs beliefs/teachings. :)

Wouldn't you know it was an SDA who pulled up this ancient and dead post? (By dead, I am not saying the topic is dead, but rather, 10 year old posts should be closed!)

It starts in 2011. Just after I first joined! That's a long time ago. Someone pulled it up in 2015, 2016, and 2017, too! And again in 2021!

I think if you want to discuss the SDA or any other topic, start your own thread, rather than pulling up a 10 year old post.

The fact is, even if the people who wrote years ago still have an active status, most are not on CC any more. They are not here to defend themselves. All the "guests" and banned people are definitely not here to defend themselves. So addressing anything these three groups wrote is wrong. It is only fair that you address active members, so they can respond.

As for the few of us who are still around, I've read this post 3 or 4 times. I don't want to deal with it again.

So, please, I ask everyone to comment on current topics, not ones from 2011! Thanks in advance! Put a limit of going back one year, at most to pull up posts. Unless it is being continually posted in, like "Speak Your Mind!" That is a different kind of thread!
Oh sorry I see that only now !!!!! Oh wow I just joined and I joined specifically because I loved this thread I think it is great. It looks like everytime someone puts it back from the dead there are more questions that come, whereas new threads die faster.
Well, if this is wrong to pull that thread back, I am ok with stopping it, but please if there are more questions here, I will be happy to keep answering :)

Hi, as I said I am a Seventh Day Adventist. The only reason this question answer post is here is because I have seen many people throw things at my Faith without really knowing what we believe.

So I will be answering any Bible questions you have if I can. Repeat BIBLE questions. Everything I believe and that my Church teaches is firmly based in Scripture and no where else.

Now I have a lot on my plate so please be patient with me. This post is not designed to argue but rather help those who wish to better understand our position. You do not have to agree with me in any way. I will however be using the bible to answer any questions. so if you need to discuss anything with me about a topic that you think I am wrong in then feel free. but use your Bible. I will not pay any heed to those who come in here and rant on their soap box without scripture to back them up.

In other words, lets be Christian about this. I have no need nor want to put others down. and will not respond to put downs and unchristian behaviour.

One other thing. I am a Seventh Day Adventist Pastor, and one thing I have learnt is that most Professed Seventh Day Adventists do not know what we actually believe. Why do I say this? Because While you may have read things about us and done some study. chances are, you don't understand half as much about our teaching as you think you do.

I do not pretend to know everything about how other faiths believe even though I used to be a pentecostal. I am not ignorant enough to think that I know them because I once was one. so please afford me the same respect.

That being said, May God bless us all as we draw closer to Him in truth and in Spirit.
Do you believe eternal hell?

I am interested in alot of What Walter Veith has to say . But not so much about the dietary restrictions of the old covenant extended in the new covenant . When the Bible says , 1 Tim 4: 3,4 . I am curious though about the Sabbath being changed to Sunday by an ancient pope and being adopted by the the Protestants . Seems like the Sabbath is Saturday and 7th day adventists are spot on about that. However when it comes down to obeying the ordinances of the 7th day Adventists to switch from Sunday I get a feeling that we are drifting toward a "works" mentality. Do you do no labor on Saturday ? curious

On October 2, 2014 I prayed that God would marry my husband and myself. We were going to be living together and the wedding was set for November 27, 2014 formal paperwork and minister. We both were there for the prayer and I did not feel guilty afterward were we wrong? Just wondering what your thoughts are on this. We just celebrated our 7th anniversary legally.

Are you a cessationist or continuationist?

Do you believe in Dispensationalism?

What are your views on premillenialism?

What particular Doctrine or Bible do you preach from?

Heres a few to start nice meeting you

May God Bless you Always
