I would like to propose an idea for what The Light on Day 1 might be.
"And God said, Let there be Light: and there was light" (Genesis 1:3)
In context The previous verses are describing The Creation of The Earth
"And The Earth was formless; and void: and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters" (Genesis 1:2)
Here's the idea....
The Light spoken of in Gen 1:3 is The Light that is coming from The Spirit of God which Lights up The Earth
Also, I believe The Book of Revelation can give us an idea of what The Light in Genesis 1:3 could be
"And The City had no need of The Sun, neither of The Moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and The Lamb is The Light thereof" (Revelation 21:23)
In conclusion, I think The Light on Day 1 is The Light coming from The Spirit of God
King James Version
God Bless
