"from such turn away" is Bible, any true Christian should be able to grasp that, even a scripturally unsound german hospital custodian who still proves his lack of faith by his continued fruitless argumentative persona.

Then who is the accuser of the brethren? As Shittim called me. From the scripture is this title given to Satan. ( rev. 12,10)

I told you already for what Acts 2,8,20 and 19 stands. If you put your own thaughts in it for to defend your view. You can do. But you cant convince me that this is what the bible teaches. But I understand that you have to use the events according your view. Otherwise the whole doctrine would collaps.

Book of Acts tells in first line the beginning of the church and the spreading of the gospel. I you would be right, why such an important issue then never was taught to other believers in the NT as it is taught since 1900 from the pentecostal and later the charismatic movements?
If you could show me from the scripture I would believe you. But you cant.
The funniest thing so far that i have heard - "You can't convince me Acts 2 is what the Bible teaches........."

Aidan1, i have continually poured out to you the love of Christ by directing you to the Gospel of John.

The only thing i want to convince you of is to read/study/pray the Gospel of John into your life.

Can you trust the Lord for His Presence and Blessing thru His Word?

Never have i pointed you or anyone towards religion. Only to Christ, His Word and the Holy Spirit.

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”; and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.” Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours: whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come—all are yours.
And you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.

Nobody can "convince" any one of anything hardly, that is the realm of Holy Spirit, since you live in self pride yoyr heart is not right to receive His truth.
The parable of the sees and the 4 soils is illustrative of this.
If we don't make ourselves good soil we have chosen not to receive His word.

The gospel of John, was the first biblical book I read after I became a child of God. And it is my favorite Gospel.
And I trust the Word of God. More then to any human saying or teaching.

John chapter one is a testimony from John of who the Word of God is and how He is eternal and has come to be a man named Jesus.

i went to be last night with you on my heart and praying for you. This morning i woke up with you on my mind and with this 'word of knowledge' for you.

God put us together for Blessing and for you to know that JESUS is the WORD who was and is God from the beginning.
HE came to fulfill all of the Father's desire for you and me to know and love Him without fear.
When the Apostle John saw the Glorified LORD in Revelation, John wrote: "when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead."
But this is what happened next:
But HE laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last."

The Lord, your Savior wants you to "not be afraid." HE has a Great Blessing waiting for you Aidan.
Jesus is the Word of God and therefore you need not fear all that HE has to say to you.
HE will not lead you astray or into false doctrine.
HIS promise for you is this "HE who began a Good work in you will complete unto the Day of Christ"
That Work of God begins with our receiving Christ and being washed in His Blood.
But the Work of God is completed through being filled with the Holy Spirit.
This baptism of the Holy Spirit, God wants you to run to and not away from.

Then John testified, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove and resting on Him.
I myself did not know Him, but the One who sent me to baptize with water told me,
‘The man on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is He who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’
I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.”

Our nature is to fear, fight and attack that which is beyond us and in God's control.
Aidan, Do not be afraid of the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

The devil does indeed fear this power He wishes ALL of us to walk in.

You never could proof from the scripture that the doctrine of baptism with the Holy Spirit and the sign of this is the gift of speaking in tongues is taught in the bible to the believers. This is what I statet. In his letter to the Romans Paul not even mentioned the gift of speaking in tongues.
Acts was finnished suposly short before Pauls death in 68. In this time it was taught to no believers, because first it was adressed to Theophilus.
If you read 1.Cor. you will Note that in this church was speaking in toungues obviously overemphasised. Otherwise Paul had no need to correct the Corinthians.
And you cant find this teaching in the churchhistory too. None of the churchfathers or the Reformators which renewed the focus on the word of God taught that speaking in tongues is the sign that someone has received the Holy Spirit.
Nowhere I have said that God is not healing or doing miracles today or that the gifts ceased, except the So called sign gifts.
That they stopped in the church is obvious.
Because as believers we dont need signs.

The OP theme is saying nothing about the view of the creator of this thread. Is he pro or contra? Thats open from the OP Name!
I gave you scripture. If you ignore it is your buissiness.
this is an argument formulated in human reasoning. To say one can never prove from scripture the doctrines "of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit" Because it is suggested it was never taught to Believer in the early church is ridiculous. With that kind of worldly view, one could same something about the teaching of the Trinity because the word Trinity is never used in the word of God. Or my Calvinist brothers and sisters on the principal of TULIP. This is a desperate stretch, to say the least, in trying to use this futile as the meaning to discredit what is known as the initial evidence of receiving the Empowering of the Holy Spirit that Jesus said would happen to those in Acts 1:8. That Paul wrote three chapters on in 1cor chapter 12, 13, and 14 on the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Paul did not have to say or teach the initial evidence because it was a normal thing in the early church. It was not until those with claimed " intellectual superiority " started to mock and scoff at the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and sought to control the people. They took the empowering away just as they took the word of God away to control them.

Pentecostals are nothing more than God helping the body of Christ return to its ROOTS! Not the Roots of 1904 but the roots of Acts 1:8

But you know better LOL.

you still did not answer the question who is the word of God spoken in the first chapter of John? Surely you know? But by your own logic, you have backed yourself into a corner because to say who the "word of God " is would be agreeing with a "man-made doctrine " as you say.

Dave, thank you for your concern. I must tell you, i got already the baptism of the Holy Spirit, when Jesus came into my life. And the gift he gave me is that I can discern the spirits.

That this was not taught is fact. Such an important issue. And Paul not even mentioned speaking in tongues in his list of gifts to the Romans.
You can say what you want about me, this changes not the fact that this is an man made doctrine which was not taught in the bible to other believers.

LOL, that because HE wrote in 1 Corthinains chapter 12 and 13 and 14. Forbid not to speak in tongues. out of the 9 gifts listed two are speaking in tongues and interpretation of Tongues which is the same as prophesying as the text says in chapter 14.
