Consumerism is a social and economic order that encourages the acquisition of goods and services in ever-increasing amounts. With the industrial revolution, but particularly in the 20th century, mass production led to overproduction—the supply of goods would grow beyond consumer demand, and so manufacturers turned to planned obsolescence and advertising to manipulate consumer spending.[1] In 1899, a book on consumerism published by Thorstein Veblen, called The Theory of the Leisure Class, examined the widespread values and economic institutions emerging along with the widespread "leisure time" in the beginning of the 20th century.[2] In it, Veblen "views the activities and spending habits of this leisure class in terms of conspicuous and vicarious consumption and waste. Both are related to the display of status and not to functionality or usefulness."[3]

nope i do not reject scripture at all.. your rejecting what could be true without even investiating to see if romans 14:14 is completely true in the context you and others percieve it to be.. instead of ivestigating to see if scripture how you and @Dino246 percieve that scripture your way.. you would rather now call me a heretic.. why is that ?.. well because niether of you will follow other scripture that says invstiate all scripture to see if it is from the holy spirit and because you dont want to admit that you could be wrong.

where talking about one sentence in the 14:14 that does not line up ith many sentences in the bible.. but you and @Dino246 only want it to line up with your pre concieved ideas..

then procede to call me a heretic.. all scripture must line up with all scripture for it to be completely true of our holy spirit not how mankind percieves scripture.

wise words... I think? this thread is kinda confusing but... reminds me of the phrase, "from the mouths of babes". people can become stuck in their ways -- and their thinking -- and argue for such a length of time -- but God's thoughts being higher than our own -- we are most probably most each at a 'level' of thinking. line upon line is needful... here a little... there a little... and/ or to become as a child. God can reveal new (the next level and/or corrections to) things to us and more and more knowledge, but only if we have not closed our minds down too too much. the closed mind is a small god (of one's own)... so small. how good of a 'god' depends on how near to truth maybe it is and/or how few errors it has. that 'god' could get you to the next level maybe but it might need to fragment a bit to or alot even to begin to be able to accept more truth from God/the Spirit/Christ to progress any further in truth, tRuTh, TrUtH, TRUTH (variations on truth -- God knows all the variations yet thinks far different than most variations of human, being higher in thought and holiness and in order and in truth).

Well that's Consumerism for you lol.. Let me try to stop you becoming more confused.. There are many ways to eat something both physically and spiritually and even the words we eat and digest,, as you know where always being fed something right or regurgitating.. So the purpose of my idea behind the thread is to investigate every avenue with the hope in mind a deeper understanding of confusing consumerism can be the cure of much sanity lol... along the way of this march of course from both the meat eaters and the grain eaters, there will be many laws discussed, and it is my hope we can reframe from calling each other heretics or becoming offended and try to resolve many mysteries of under inflated consumerism and over inflated consumerism lol... personally tho i feel as long as you get at least and bare minimum of 500 calories 3 to 4 times a day with roughly 40 to 50 grams of protein.. You will have a good chance of not becoming mentally drained with such a challenging topic like this that requires a lot of thought processing.

So hopefully we can all make peace now.

Good day to you all on this wonderful new day the Lord created. :)

Thankyou for taking part in this thread, I would like to ask you all a question seeing as you have all taken part if i may please.

What are your thoughts on vegans being vegan on the basis Jesus said i am the living water that feeds all living creatures. (please note Jesus did not say i am living meat that feeds all meat.) and also no where in the bible does it say Jesus ate meat, and also at the last super Jesus gave bread to eat not meat.

Also what would your thoughts be on vegans being vegan because living water produces plant food which can be enough to feed us, as the bible is clear plant food is enough food for us. and Jesus said i am the living water that feeds you.

My undesrtanding here if Jesus was a meat eater, surely at his last super he would have ate meat.

One last question for now as it would be such a shame to close this discussion i think.. when Jesus fed the 5000 fish where they real fish to eat or spiritual fish on the basis of this scripture did Jesus turn bread into spiritual a fish with a soverign (a spiritual coin in the middle of the fish).. did Jesus awaken the eyes of the heart in all 5000 people that day..

Matthew 17:27

27 However, so that we do not offend them, go to the sea and throw in a hook, and take the first fish that comes up; and when you open its mouth, you will find a shekel. Take it and give it to them [to pay the temple tax] for you and Me.”

Can any of you see a spiritual message in the fish referenced here in 17:27.

one clear message that can bee seen is the fish are in the shape of an ark and the coin in the fish is a soverign to,, the fish that Jesus could haven feeding could have been was spiritual food for life and the coin (soverign) fed this person not the fish.. but both where spiritual the fish is a rescue ark and the coin is the soveriegn and the awakening of the eyes of the heart,, spiritual food for life

Jesus was known as the The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. Isaiah 25:8-9

and one more question here based on this scripture
10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.” 11 So Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13 Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. 14 This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.

Ok Did Jesus eat the fish here and again was the fish he gave them spiritual fish or real meat. baring in mind he had just filled a net up with fish that was no where to be seen

Seeing how there were baskets of pieces left over I would have to say that the food was physical. There may be spiritual connotations but keep in mind that before Jesus broke the bread and the fishes he preached to the crowds, probably for hours. That was their spiritual nourishment and the bread and fish was the physical nourishment.

Jesus himself said that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Still, bread (food) is physically necessary to maintain physical health and the spiritual food for spiritual health.

It was made clear in the NT that what enters a man's mouth does not defile him but only what comes out of it. By example, Jesus was certainly not a vegan. Certain people eat only vegetables because their conscience does not permit them to eat meat. Others, perhaps more spiritually mature in regards to the facet of eating, allow themselves to eat meat as well. Seafood too. Even food that was previously sacrificed to idols because, in reality, the idols do not physically or spiritually exist.

I would encourage you to take some formal training in biblical interpretation. It is clear from this post that you have never had any, and whatever "instruction" you have received has been rather poor.

Real fish. 5,000 people ate real fish and real bread.

By the way, the word is "bearing". If you are "baring", you are uncovering. If you are "bearing", you are carrying. Bear this in mind, and don't bare your soul to ridicule for not knowing these simple facts.

Says the man who has denied the plain meaning of many verses in holy scripture.

Do not ask me to dredge up the evidence; I have forgotten where your statements are located; they are mainly "x"'s that you have placed on many of my posts where I have quoted scripture; which indicated that you disagreed both with me and the scriptures that I was quoting in those posts.

And the evidence is all over these boards.

Yes this does look as if Jesus did indeed eat some fish i truly believed (thought) he did not after my recent studies. The main reason was because i never knew completey and have alays assumed Jesus may have ate meat.

The same translation of Luke 14:36&41-43 in Mathew does not state he actually ate the fish so i really am thrown back by this, as I truly believed that no where did the bible state Jesus actually ate meat.. it's a bit of a difficult topic to digest lol this one haha. From my studies, I believe the vegans also mean did Jesus actually digest real meat as well. One study on an internet forum clearly said the bible does not say Jesus actually digested real meat and quoted the Mathew translation, which is what made me believ the way i did which is throwing me one way and then the other. I did truly think (not believe) that until you showed me this scripture that Jesus never ate meat, but only briefly as ive always assumed Jesus dideat meat.. I have since been back to my new vegan friends, to which they have more questions for this bible passage in Luke. even i use to think befor last week That maybe Jesus did eat meat until i was told the bible does not say he did. but ive miss interprtated what my vegan friends are saying.

Many vegans believe God would not eat meat and would have no need too. From chatting to my new vegan friends, some of them are very protective of God and animals, and they love Jesus. This is a very difficult subject for them to digest that their lord Jesus is called a meat eater..when possibly he never really ate real meat. Or possibly Jesus only ever ate meat once in his lifetime. The real upsetting part is some vegans feel that eating meat may be a sin because God originally said to Adam and eve you only need to eat the plant food and made no mention of eating meat there also seems to be many diets associated with religion and people not eating meat because of religious reasons . This really has become upsetting for me this topic now. Especially now i know how easy it is now not to need to eat meat, and how much healthier i am now since i no longer eat meat. I've always thought we need to eat meat, and we really do not, i even used to think you would die if you did not eat meat as many probably do..

A vegan i chat with says that maybe the fish were not real fish that Jesus ate or fed the 5000 with, because on both occasions Jesus had made the Fish appear out of thin air. It could be that fish where spiritual and symbolic.. That the fish Jesus ate and fed the 5000 with were spiritual fish, like the spiritual manna that fell in the desert.

It's even sadder that many vegans have all believed like i had, as a child, that you must eat meat, or they might die. Or if you do not eat meat, you may get unwell, and this is the reason why people keep on eating meat, that they feel they need to and have to.

I'm sorry about that but I am like a bear with a saw head, so please bear my bear head in mind, and also, please bear in mind i am no longer a guzzling beer head, but a bear with a saw head, and at the moment my bear head has lost some of its bearings. Bearing in mind I have gone from a cigarette meat-eating beer guzzling junky to a none meat-eating, nut eating, none smoking, none beer drinking, in the space of 3 months. My hormones are mind-bendingly going crazy

@Dino246 @Ogom @justbyfaith @tourist @Jocund @TMS @pottersclay @Joy4N8cher @John146 @pottersclay @Magenta. The question i ask now to you all, and i hope you dont mind me asking, but people think if you dont eat meat you will die or get unwell, but is it not the case that in some situations if you eat meat you will die as well.

Now if you eat the spiritual bread of life you will live ?. now if you dont eat the spiritual bread of life you die. so there is a clear spiritual message for the spiritual food that we eat. but is eating the physical meat of life also repersenting death. This is a question posed to me by my vegan friends which requires an in detph study which i would truly love it if you could all tak part further please. thankyou

The questions and arguments

could you say that all food is living meat ?

Could you say dead meat still has life in it.

could you say dead grain still has life in it.

could you say to eat a living plant is the same as eating a living animal ?

Well one thing for certain is nobody should feel bad for the food they have ate because of many diffrent beliefs and confusion, but however there are some valid questions for a deeper spiritual understanding of scripture here.
