God is eternal, what is true of God in the OT is true of God in the NT. Their sins had to be forgiven.
In the OT and in the NT, sins can only be forgiven through Christ. Through sacrifice that was a prophecy of Christ they were in "Abraham's bosom", it was made complete and perfect when Christ was crucified.
Now, they are to go to Christ. Before, the temple was most important for their forgiveness, when Christ came the temple was taken away from them, they are to go to Christ. Christ fulfilled the prophecy.

the common thread is Gods word was always promising remission of sins by his word through faith alone by the witness of Christ therin.
through the promised by his word messiah , to be born of a virgin of David’s line and Abraham’s line , the one Moses wrote would come forth to speak Gods word . The one Abraham prophesied forth but faith
And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.”
Genesis 22:7-8 KJV
and Jesus fulfilled later
“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
John 1:29 KJV
Whether they heard of Jesus death then in the ot or we hear of it now days all the arrows in all of scripture point to accepting and believing the gospel of Matthew mark luke and John and having eternal life no matter when you hears about it or from whom whether Isaiah or Peter , whether John , Paul , or your own pastor today .
If it’s the true gospel the message of atonement through Christ and repentance toward God will be there
