I think we do a disservice to ourselves by trying to apply Scripture to our lives. The head doesn’t say to the toe, “Speak!” The head doesn’t say to the eyes, “Walk!” A body can only function as a body when the members are performing their intended functions. A liver is not the lungs, the heart is not the hand. Praying to Lord and asking His will for you, is much more beneficial than reading a passage of Scripture instructed to someone else and thinking it is generic for all. Not all should have children. Not all should be missionaries. The Church needs a Body not a clump of body parts. Get instruction from the Lord, not some confirmation bias that you applied from the Book of Joshua. We are not a nomadic tribe about to conquer a city of giants. Walking around your place of business several times then blowing a horn won’t help you get a promotion. It might get you fired. Stop throwing out inapplicable scripture verses to back up ridiculous claims. “I have plans to prosper you…” not said to us. “Be fruitful and multiply…” not said to us. Let’s be intellectually honest when quoting Scripture. It’s there to help not mislead. Too much of the latter causes a weak argument. Be blessed.

When people are led by the Spirit of GOD they will not let self praise get In the way and hinder the Spirit of GOD but there will be unity and no pride and encouragement of each other although the dEvil will be there tempting those who want to satisfy the flesh to give attention to self worth.

I do not care if I am the little toe on the left foot as long as I can be in heaven and live forever with Jesus.

“Be fruitful and multiply…” not said to us.
What makes you think that? This was addressed to MANKIND. So your OP is full of misleading and false ideas.

Yes, hopefully that was clear.

Hi Hungry,

It wasn't clear to me that's why I asked, especially with how you introduced your statement.

So you do actually believe as with christians that all of scripture 'is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.'. 2 Tim 3:16.

Basically, you don't agree with how some may apply Scripture. And that we would do a great disservice to tell christian not to apply Scripture to our lives?

Just to put that the passage of scripture in Corinthians talking of the body of Christ, is of the church at Corinth.

'Ye are the body of Christ and members in particular '

The 'ye' or 'you' is the church at Corinth.

So its speaking of the local church working together. A hand , a foot, etc.. being a member of that church.

If you are talking of all believers.. isn't that part of the Family of God?

Is that the only reference to being a body? I don’t think so.

Yes, scripture as a whole is applicable. Taking a line from one of David’s songs and building a theology on it, may be unwise.

Jesus also said, “ For there are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others—and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.”

That doesn’t sound like be fruitful and multiply. Paul said something similar. Are Jesus and Paul also sharing false ideas?

Yes, that's right. There are others like Ephesians 4.. 'there is one body, one faith, one baptism'

Even there it's a similar thing with the church at Ephesus being the subject of the book.

So 'one body' at Ephesus.. also adding that the 'there is' in front of 'one body ' is inserted.

The main thrust of the book being about unity in the church at Ephesus

Also there is references to different body parts and the gifts given. We are not all called to do the same thing. That’s the point.

Wow...........much wrong here, much. First being the statements you give were not only stated in Joshua............

Let us start with this one:

“I have plans to prosper you…” not said to us.

What Jesus said that was for ALL who believe on Him

John, Chapter 10:

9I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

I'd say Jesus has plans to "prosper us."

“Be fruitful and multiply…” not said to us.

Jeremiah, Chapter 29

6Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished.

Psalms 127:3 - Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 17:6 - Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.

Isaiah 54:13 - And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.

Matthew 18:10 - Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.

Mark 10:14 - But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

Ephesians 6:4 - And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

The WHOLE REASON God created male and female was for the purpose of procreation. Not just men and women, but ALL of His Creations! All that walk on the earth, fly in the sky, or swim in the seas!

Let us be honest and admit that to properly interpret Scripture, one MUST be a Sanctified Believer. That is one who is filled with the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.

To suggest that God did not intend for US, the Church to have children is simply a childish view of Scripture..........

There is ONE GOSPEL............I will never subscribe to the two Gospel ideology

Actually it is chock full of good stuff.
Really? You consider this "good stuff": I think we do a disservice to ourselves by trying to apply Scripture to our lives?

Did everyone get that? It is a mistake to apply Scripture to your life! So what should one do? Read Karl Marx or Adolf Hitler?
