I am trying something new...

I am interested in making friends on-line, but I run into raunchy chat rooms, and thats not what I'm looking for. I am a single-mother, sober and active in my recovery, and I love God. Would love to meet like-minded people. I also cant figure out how to put a profile picture up. I haven't really been apart of an online community and I am excited to do something different. Thanks for reading.

Hello, credit to you for being sober and having the guts to be honest.
There are many hurdles when it comes to meeting people online. I have been lucky this year and found that there are a few gems.
Time zones can be a challenge. I myself am sinner who who tries to make each day better.
Hoping less on folks and more on faith.
If u like the simple things in life, then happy to chat.
I can't deal with judging, and am not looking for relationships.
Just decent people with enough space for learning about the life of others.

Welcome. I came here years ago also looking for “likeminded” believers. Haven’t found one yet, lol. It’s pretty much like any family. There’s quite a mixed bag of people from all walks of life at different points in their journey connected under the banner of one name, Christian. There’ are a few wolves that stop by but most here are very genuine. Looking forward to seeing you in the forums.

As someone who has been online for decades now...
Online chat rooms/forums are almost like the real life bus station in the bad part of town. There's a bit of every type of person there. And since you can't see how a person is dressed or their facial expressions you have to rely upon how they self describe themselves. (Which is always glowing)

For whatever reason they seem to miss the elephant in the room of their life and lifestyle.
The reason I say this is that I have personally met so many people I have conversed with online...it's kinda odd. I even met my wife online over twelve years ago...and am truly grateful and blessed every day about it.

But since we all are having limited time meeting people face to face anymore...it's about all we got. It helps when we don't have to stew in our own crazy for too long because we can add a bit of everyone else's crazy right along with ours...and become a bit saner in the end somehow.

And I can completely understand that between childcare and work you are probably exhausted and in sore need of someone who isn't going to demand anything from you but friendship...

So grab a cuppa and an easy chair and get comfy. Tell us whatever you want about you. We'll throw in stories of our own and just jaw a bit.

See, you're learning how to do stuff already! Very good! There are quite a few single parents on this site as well as others in various stages of recovery for various malady's and addictions, including myself, so you're not alone in this regard. HI Brogel and welcome! I'm fairly new too and hang out mostly in the Bible Forums as I enjoy apologetics. There are some good posts, but also some odd, argumentative ones. There is one forum I think called 'Friends' but it seems a bit random. You can always start a post in 'Friends' and preface it with looking for some encouragement or inspiration or Single Moms/Sober Single Parents (just as an exampe)--it helps to make your topic clear.
