What are we doing to protect people against the evil things poured out by the wicked?

• Pro 15:28 -> “The heart of the righteous studies to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.”.

As part of Jesus’ body, we should be a stronghold to the poor and needy, a protection against storm and heat, a supply of living water in the drought:

• Isa 25:4 -> “For You are a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the fearful ones is like a storm against the wall.”.
• Isa 14:32 -> “What then shall one answer the messengers of the nation? That Jehovah hath founded Zion, and in her shall the afflicted of his people take refuge.”.
• Isa 32:1 -> “Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and rulers shall rule in judgment. And a man shall be as a hiding place from the wind, and a shelter from the tempest, like streams of water in a dry place, like the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.”.
• Isa 4:6 -> “And there shall be a booth for a shade by day from the heat, and for a refuge, and for a hiding place from storm and rain.”.

Note how the Holy Scripture emphasize the Creator as refuge and protection (for instance, Ps 46:1):

• Psa 91:1 -> “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall rest under the shadow of the Almighty.”.
• Psa 57:1 -> “Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me; for my soul trusts in You; yea, in the shadow of Your wings I will make my hiding-place, until these great troubles pass by.”.

We can’t bear false witness against our neighbor (Exo 20:16), nor take up a reproach against our neighbor (Ps 15:3). Instead, the order is:

• Pro 31:8,9 -> “Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.”.

So, have a great day serving of pillar and ground of the truth (1Tim 3:15) and of house of prayer and refuge (Isa 56:7; Luke 19:46) for all of those who are oppressed by the wicked.
