In a sense, He is purposefully a mystery. Christ also being a mystery. So the parallel is kinda "built in"
Yes I’ve come to think of melchezidek as a mystery in the old whomis being revealed in the new only when Christ appears did he later become part of the revelation of Christ Jesus
see the thing is at least in my own thinking Jesus is everything for us He is our Lord and our God , he is our prophet and apostle who spoke Gods word, he is the high priest who presides over and intercedes for us , he is himself the sacrifice offered by himself both the slain sacrifice for the atonement , and the scapegoat who bears our sin far away from us on his own , he is also the Passover lamb who’s blood causes death to pass us over while it seeks for those in darkness , he really has fulfilled the patterns in the law and prophets and has himself become everything we need.
Even our closest friend is Jesus always with us holding us up , and leading us on , striking the wolves who rush at us from the shadows
melchezidek is owing us his priestly role in the heavenly tabernacle promised to David for his “ son”
I’ve found he is not just one figure but has become all of the necassary parts of our covenant from sacrifice to lord and lawgiver to priest to apostle to the one God and creator
the New Testament identifies Jesus and shows his all encompassing nature and Will so melchezideks mysterious nature and purpose is revealed as we begin to see Jesus it’s just another revelation of who he is
“And Thomas answered and said unto him,
My Lord and my God.”
John 20:28 KJV
“Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling,
consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;”
Hebrews 3:1 KJV
“For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the
Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.”
1 Peter 2:25 KJV
“Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For
even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:”
1 Corinthians 5:7 KJV
“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son
to be the propitiation for our sins.”
1 John 4:10
I’ll stop there but the point is if we want to understand Jesus priestly role and service , then we have the pattern in the mosaic law to help us, and the revelation in the book of Hebrews then makes the mystery less and understanding much more
we can literally find every requirement of the priesthood in the New Testament fulfilled by Christ from the day of atonement to the reciting of the word tonthe judgement seat where he sits d presides and intercedes in that role of the priest
the secret is to look away from the earth and into the unseen things the New Testament tells us are there to age where melchezidek serves
