our focus is on treating each other with love and not sinning against our neighbors or God the commanments didn't go away they are still our guide to morality.

On these two commandments hang ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.”

what does that mean? It means if you love God with all your heart and all your soul you won't go against Him, or have other Gods before Him, you will keep Him first and seek to do His will. You would never use His name in vain or as a swear word. You would obey Him.

And the second is like it, love your neighbor as you love yourself
what does it mean with relation to the law and the prophets? It means if you love your neighbor as you love yourself you won't covet his wife or his belongings, you won't steal from him, you won't bare false witness against him, you would never murder him, you would forgive him.
I agree, and would add this: by the ongoing sanctifying work of the indwelling Spirit, we are changed so that our core motivations are conformed to God's will, and contravening His will becomes less consistent with our nature.

God didn’t say it. Paul wrote it. I would consider Paul’s gratitude to God for orchestrating their union (with Colossians) as saints and heirs is rightfully bestowed. I think I answered your question but I am unaware why you asked it.

No worries, they did not respond regardless. I’m not saying that is inaccurate but we are not worthy. Our salvation is dependent on our grafting to the Lord.

it has nothing to do with salvation as we are not worthy but for the work of the cross,

Luke 21:36 So keep watch at all times, and pray that you
Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
to be worthy to escape the wrath of God which is the tribulation, caught up by Jesus to meet the Lord in the air

Suck it up, buttercup? Yikes. You're lovely.
Yeah... this is why I've been distancing myself from this particular thread.

I've made my case. Opinions have been expressed, and now a dead horse is being beaten. Plus, should I waste so much God-given time on going around in circles with people who cannot disagree with me respectfully?

It's been fun, I made my case, got some back-up, but now it's time to see what other topics Christians can find to argue about

Folks, I need to make a recommendation to every member of this site: Watch your words. I had an issue with Ebeth, but never became disrespectful or insulting. She may have been offended, but not because I became sophomoric towards her.

Know that...

A) Christ is watching.

B) There may be non-Christians here who want to see what Christians are like. Well crap, that ship seems to have sailed.

C) You ought to speak to people here the way you would if you were standing two feet from them making eye-to-eye contact. Don't allow the anonymity of the internet to give freedom to those darker impulses some of you say you no longer have.

This is just my 5¢. I don't expect most to take these points seriously, since, like I said, I joined this site knowing what I would find. But, I thought I'd give it the old college try.

You've literally just described the entire Bible Discussion Forum (or Pharisee's Discussion Forum as I like to call it). They have Literally (and I mean literally) been arguing the same topics for over a decade.
And respect? That's not even a distant memory anymore.

If you were not part of the argument then you should not have come to the wrong conclusion that I was adressing you. I'm about ready to dump this thread as patience has not come and I AM trying but all some seem to want to do is accuse me and make me a liar.
I always ask for patience and always make an effort towards that patience I never said God snaps His fingers, Gosh where do you get these ideas?
I never said or implied that you were addressing me. I saw a statement you made, unrelated to the main topic, and thought I'd help. And all you've done is falsely accuse me and talk crap.
For all your complaining about everyone else here maybe you need to look in the mirror. I didn't come at you in any negative way and all you've done run your mouth at me, and not even about anything true.
Your character is shown, and it's lacking greatly. I'm done with you.

Ugh. This last statement does not show in any way that you understand what I've been saying here. *Face-palm*
I understand that you asked a person who tells us they live in repentance of sin if the sin. I don't see how you can put a nice polite face on such a question to ask of a person who is following the Lord. All Christians who listen to the Lord knows that their wanting to be sin free only makes them sin free through what Christ did for them.

NAME SOME SINFUL habits and I will tell you I do not, I stopped drinking, I stopped smoking, I stopped medical marijuana, I have been celibate to the letter for over a decade, what else? I don't watch porn or even sexually explicit movies, I shield my eyes from such things. You don't BUY IT? Then you don't know the power of God. Romans 8:5, ESV: "For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit." I don't have to answer to YOU I have perfect peace in my walk with God and He let's me know I'm doing fine.
Great, now can you check off this list one by one? https://believersportal.com/list-sins-bible/

do not believe that we are utterly unable to keep the 10 commandments
The Apostle Jude was inspired to warn us of this very deception. "Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ" (Jude 3–4).

Notice that Jude warns of false teachers using the idea of "grace" as a vehicle for "licentiousness\—license to disobey the very laws of God!

Let us understand that no one can ever earn salvation—it is God's gift! The true grace of God leads to the gift of salvation (Ephesians 2:8–10; Romans 6:23). Those willing to obey God (Acts 5:29, 32) and who are under true grace will be God's "workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works" (Ephesians 2:10). God's grace does not eliminate the need for obedience and keeping God's commandments. The Apostle Paul warned that one could "receive the grace of God in vain" (2 Corinthians 6:1). And while the Apostle Peter exhorted Christians to "rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ" (1 Peter 1:13), he continues with the expectation that we do so "as obedient children" (v. 14; cf. v. 2).

The 10 Commandments List in Exodus 20:2-17

1.“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me.

2.“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

3.“You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

4.“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

5.“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.

6.“You shall not murder.

7.“You shall not commit adultery.

8.“You shall not steal.

9.“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

10.“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

Matthew 22:36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”

37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

John 14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”

23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.
If all you are doing is keep the commandments, you are falling far short of God's standard. The sermon on the mount tells us that. God has replaced the law of "thou shalt/thou shalt not" with the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus. If we are walking in the Spirit, then all is well and God is pleased. If we are not, then no matter how correct we may appear to be, God is not pleased. So no, the Holy Spirit does not help us. He is the Life of Christ within us. In heaven I died and my life is hidden in Christ with God. On earth, it is Christ in me, the hope of glory. I will never be able to take any credit for anything to do with my Christian life. I was saved by grace the day I was born again. I was saved by grace the next day. 50 years later, I'm still saved by grace. You can substitute "life" for grace. (Romans 5:10)

A bird flies because it is a bird, not because it knows the theory of aerodynamics. We need to quit trying to be what God has already made us to be.

The sin checklist thing is definitely not a good idea. Been there done that before. Failed every time. The harder I would try the more I failed in something. All I got from that was guilt and shame. I was definitely not free from the power of sin.

It can get pretty confusing at times.

You have one group of people telling you all the things that you "have to do" and yet, you see them struggling and failing too. That is the "workers for salvation" that way fails every time. They are not walking in Jesus' strength they are trying to walk in their own strength. They think that their work will somehow make them worthy. They are walking in themselves. They are not free from the power of sin.

Then, you have another group keeping the ten commandments and not failing in the "big sins"...So they think they are perfect and don't have any sin. The self righteous. In their view, they sit high above all judging the sins of others. Yet, they are in themselves and also failing horribly. They are not free from the power of sin.

Then, you have another group, who tell you that you can live anyway you want. They say that since Jesus died and paid the penalty for our sins, we are saved and no longer have to worry about sin...which is true...sin has no more dominion of us. Yet, they fail in that they don't really put any faith in Jesus that he can help them overcome. They allow sin to have dominion over them. They are self willed and seeking self pleasure. They are not concerned with the will of God and do not really put their faith and trust in him, either. They are following their own will and are in themselves. They are not free from the power of sin.

There has to be another way, right.

This is pretty difficult for me to explain it all, but I will try.

Jesus came to set us free from the power of sin. He did not fail. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed. The key to this, is loving God above all else and putting all faith in the Jesus Christ our Lord. We are dead and buried with Christ. We are a new man...the spirit is regenerated and we now have access to the Father. There is no longer a separation between us and God. We are now in Christ and the Father sees us through Christ. Scripture even tells us that we have the mind of Christ. He has made us to sit together in heavenly places with Christ far above all power and principalities.

The enemy doesn't want anyone to know or believe that because he is the accuser of the brethren. He wants to keep us held down in guilt and shame so that we can't truly put our faith in Christ, walk in the Spirit, and experience the freedom that is in Him.

I don't think that we can say God replaced the law, Christ put it this way: "you have been told". Christ didn't say what you have been told was wrong, in fact he made a point of telling us he changed nothing of the Father.

When Christ explained the changes it was more explaining the true spirit of the law, the law in stone is incomplete (without love) so could be interpreted wrong, but it was given by the holy father, what God gives is always truth, not wrong information.

And it is so much easier to obey "thou shalt and shalt not" than it is to obey the true spirit of the law that Jesus made very clear. It's all about your heart. It is the difference of legalism versus the Spirit of Christ living in you.

Notice that Jude warns of false teachers using the idea of "grace" as a vehicle for "licentiousness\—license to disobey the very laws of God

What your are teaching is actually the opposite of what JUDE was teaching, which is your confusion.

Jude taught that there are ministers of the Devil, who teach that the Grace of God, when taught correctly as the "gift of Salvation".....is teaching "license".
That's the devil's lie, as the Devil's wants to subvert the Grace of God.
In other words, the devil's ministers teach that GRACE isn't Grace, its License, as their way to try to twist the Grace of God into the idea of "license'"....to then promote commandment keeping legalism, in place of God's Grace.

Jude teaches that when we find these deceivers, who are trying to present God's Grace as "license", then we are to contend against them, and point out that they are contradicting the Cross by teaching SELF SAVING LEGALISM< as "keep the commandments", vs, "believe that Jesus keeps you saved".

Thats what you are doing here.
And i would believe that you have posted this Cut and Paste Theology on many forums, and not just this one.

Galatians 3:2-3
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Galatians 5:1-4
1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.

3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Do people who preach keeping a 7th day sabbath just not read the NT? Or just not understand?

How does the bible describe these people... Stiffnecked? If they don't understand the bible and don't listen to Paul or Christ what are the chances they would listen to anyone else?
