I know a lot of sabers are going to rattle on my comment here.....so be it.
I feel that this event has been taken out of content and not explained properly to see what's taken place.
Emphasis on the bread and wine are not what this is about.
Jesus was preforming a Seder and while the deciples were well accustom to this practice they did not have a clue as to it's true meaning.
Jesus gave a revelation of himself showing that the bread which is fixed a certain way ( striped on one side and pierced throughout then torn in pieces to be shared) was given to the jews by God as a metaphor of the suffering servant to come.
After thousands of years the Lord himself explains the mystery in this appointed time.
Jesus being the bread of life . The manna which sustains.
The wine which is picked as the very best poured out and shared from one vessel being the blood as we well know.
Many churches put the emphasis on the bread and wine as if it becomes supernatural but jesus said remember me when you eat and drink referring to the other appointed times and feast.
Reading the story that jesus told of the feast of the king that set the table but those invited had excuses not to come so he sent his servants out to invite any that would come is a very interesting story.
I'll stop here for now not to get to far ahead...if you disagree I encourage you to review the dialogue spoken at the last supper as it's called and consider my comments.
In all in all always keep in communion with the Lord.
