Hello @128, that's a tough question, because there are so many :) I have a particular love for verses that use an economy of words to get their point(s) across, and reveal so much to us when they do, like Matthew 7:12 (see it just below in my signature line), which sums up all of the teachings of ~the OT/the Law & the Prophets~ in the first half of the verse (in regard to horizontal relationships anyway). How amazing is that!!

I also like verses like this one because of all that it reveals to us about salvation/eternal life (both now, and in the age to come). This verse, like Matthew 7:12, is also from the Lord Jesus.

John 5
24 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

I also love/stand on verses that include commands with wonderful promises attached to them from God, like this one.

Psalm 37
4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

There is much more, but I'll stop here for now :)

God bless you!

Welcome 128. I like to memorize the easy ones like Psalm 23 and the Lord's Prayer. . .and I do pray and stand upon them.

Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. ~KJV

Matthew 6
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. ~KJV

I read of a man who was memorizing the entire 119th psalm. How I wish I could do that, it would guide every step of the way to living our life here on earth for God. I have condensed it to Christ, I will follow you. Then I sit under a prayer shawl I have to close out the world so I am alone with my Lord, I let Him fill my being and I listen.

There are a few that have memorized the entire bible. Memorizing chapters and verses has never been my strong suit. Yes, the 119 Psalm is certainly a long one to try to remember. The only thing that I remember about that particular psalm is that it is the longest one in the bible.

I love this verse: I memorized it when I was young and it has stuck.

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. Isaiah 43:2

I like memorizing passages or chapters, but there is a particular discipline with memorizing single verses with their reference. I had about 100 I memorized and reviewed for a few years in my teen years and most of them are still with me 30 years later.

I love that!! Memorizing is very difficult for me but I have found it so rewarding in my own life and when trying to minister to someone else.
