That verse says nothing of the sort. The context doesn't either.

You have the wrong passage cited here; that is not Matthew 16:16-17. As for your claim, Jesus did not say "Those who obey my commandments will have eternal life"; He said to one man in the midst of a longer conversation, "If you want to enter life, keep the commandments." He also added another condition, meaning that keeping the commandments is not enough. It's only one part of the requirement.

Again, there is nothing about good works in this verse. It's about holding firm to faith in the face of persecution, temporal suffering, and cultural upheaval.

the above scriptures says he who leads a person to christ is good works.

the above scripture says he who keeps his faith untill the end shall recieve eternal salvation. this is also a good person who does this. this is also good work.

No, they don't. There is nothing in that passage at all about a person who leads another person to Christ. Further, the grammatical structure of your summary statement has "he ... is good works." People aren't "good works".

You would do well to stop injecting your ideas into the text and start getting your ideas out of it.

No sir im not confused the scriptures are from Jesus spoken directly from the lips of Jesus the mesiah. you need to spend more time dwelling on the scripture.

firstly please notice law number 1 you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel...

Now in the context of all the scripture we have ask the question what does it mean to follow. and where are the 12 thrones.

What does it mean to follow Jesus.

1 Well quite clearly the 12 thrones are in heaven because in the next verse it says And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife[e] or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.

So in the whole context what does it mean to Follow Jesus.
Well it means eternal life. the first and most important thing is this Following Jesus means eternal life.

lets look at the next part 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or a father or mother or wife[e] or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.

What does it mean to leave a field for my sake ?
Well since Jesus was talking here i think we can safely say it means to leave a field in the name of Jesus. This means to hand over a field to the church for free. To give to charity
To do a good deed. To work your whole life and leave everything to Jesus.

Now we have to look at the context of the whole passage which is the word everyone.

So now we have to look at what does it mean to leave a sister for my sake. ?
Well its the same as befor, to hand over a person to christ for free. to work your whole life to follow Jesus and lead your family to christ. To do all this in the name of Christ

We have to look at who Jesus was speaking to in the whole context Jesus was speaking to his deciples. Peter was being taught to minister and to lead people to christ.
Which is to follow Jesus which is to Good works for Jesus in the name of Jesus.

This means that ministers who lead people to christ do Good work for Jesus.
Secondly The passage says everyone who leaves a family member in my name is also a good minister and doing my work. Such people will inherit eternal life.

Of course we now have to look again at what its means to follow. well it doesnt Just mean to do Good works as you have said. Jesus said it also means to keep your faith your whole life. Which can mean dont reject me or dont reject my teachings.

This would also mean following Jesus and doing Good work your whole life.

This is why Jesus said to follow me is also to obey my commandments which is also doing Good work your whole life.

You need to spend more time dwelling on accuracy. You still haven't acknowledged your error regarding Matthew 16:16-17, despite my having addressed it twice.

I know the law of love should not be conditional but i feal thats probably the main issue as to why this topic of works and the law is such a touchy subject for some.
Most people have the same idea that i have, that love should not be forced or conditional.

The reality in the bible tho is a man without law is a law unto them selves. Satan is described the same way as the man of lawlessness who decieves and denies and is very destructive and exalts him self higher than God and rejects all truth and plays God.

Satan curses Good works and curses the law.

The truth is salvation is a free gift and an expression of Gods love. We should not deny this free Gift of love by saying we must do works to earn it because this is going against the law of love. So the same rule should also apply to us people, that what ever Good works we do is an expresion of our love and the spirit working through us.

Now this is the reality to christians we are told to be gentle to others. but when this law of love belief is challenged in our heart i see many people not being gentle and cursing people to to death just like satan would.
This is hardly an expression of love is it. surely if your love is strong this shouldnt upset you.

The challenge of this law of love belief has many good reasons for challenging this law of love.

One of them is bible says you must obey my commandment to recieve eternal life.

this verse puts doubt in peoples mind that Gods law of love is conditional.

Of corse the other big reason why people challenge this law of love is, the bible is quite clear that those who dont follow Jesus will suffer eternal punishiment, which suggests to some that Gods law of love is conditional. these are genuine concerns of people.

This is where the devil does his worst to peopled minds Because what Jesus is actually saying is if you dont behave you could face hell. obviously that is not going to happen if you follow Jesus.

I herd the devil say you wouldnt say to some one you love,, Love me or i will burn you in hell for the rest of eternity.

Basicaly what im saying is the law of love is unconditional, and the law of behaviour is conditional.
The law of love and salvation should not be tied in with the law of behaviour unless your doing Good works, but if your doing bad works then the law of behaviour has no part in the law of love,

Good point jaumej, I feal encouraged by this post. Of course theres many ways we can act in love. Of course praying for each other is high up there because praying is something we can do in Gods name.

I do not mind at all, however I am in and out all day long here, and gone early for the US since I live in Spain. Alos, unless I receive an alert, many times people think I am missing period.

I will say again though, the laws of love are made up of all the things God has already told us we should do or not do, except fot all those finished by our Lord and Savior.

What I mean is, it does not take an expert researcher to know the law telling us not to move our neighbor's land mark to favor our profit is just a tiny part of love.

Its good to mull over the word. I do feal that we can know God that much more by knowing his law. and also we can know are enemy by knowing the law.
