As the title says: do catholics worship God or the pope?

Do they allow the pope to come between them and God?

Only God and the individual Catholic can answer that question. I'd say there's a good mixture of the two. The question is, who is God?

Does the Catholic believe in the Core Doctrine of Circumcised Hearts? If so, they believe in the True God, not made of wood or stone, but a God Who is capable of changing Hearts.

I don't think it's reasonable to group all "catholics" this way, any more than it is reasonable to lump any diverse group of people together on any issue. There are probably some Catholics who do worship the pope, and many who don't. Only God can see where the heart crosses the line between respect from worship; we can only see where the worship is blatant.

I’m not sure what each individual catholic thinks or believes but it seems to me much of thier practices are opposite what Jesus taught .

to me the popes role in their faith is no different from Joseph smith and the Mormons . They are replacing Christ with someone else because he is the only mediator between God and man but with Mormonism one has to accept Joseph smith as a prophet in order to hear from God and Catholics really have the pope exalted as if he’s the way to God

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭2:5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I think that many denominations have issues in their doctrine catholics seem also to have some serious issues . If only we would stick to the one God sent and what he said

The Catholics say they do not worship the Pope, and do not pray to the Pope, and he is not a replacement for Christ or the heavenly Father.

But there is still errors with the Catholic Church.

Jesus is the mediator between God and men not the Pope, and not the priests who hear the sins of the people and say they take them to God for we only repent to God for our sins, and the blood of Jesus washes them away.

They call the Pope Holy Father, but a man called Jesus good Master, and He said why call me good for there is only one good and that is God, which the man Christ Jesus was giving glory to God why He did good all the time, so they should not call the Pope Holy Father.

Jesus said call no man father but your heavenly Father, which you can call your natural father, father, but do not call anyone father that says they are operating in a spiritual capacity, and the Pope is not their natural father.

So the Pope should not be called Holy Father.

They also say they do not worship Mary but there is errors there.

For they reverence her and bow down to a statue of her, and call her Queen of heaven, and Mother of God, and try to put her above the other saints, which they should not do.

Jesus was speaking to a crowd of people and His disciples said Jesus your mother and brethren stand outside the crowd desiring to speak to you, and Jesus pointed to His disciples who were men and said, who is my mother, and who are my brethren, for whoever does the will of my Father the same is my mother, brethren, and sisters.

Jesus was speaking to a crowd of people and a woman said blessed is the woman that gave birth to you, and Jesus said yea rather blessed is the person who hears the word of God and does it.

Jesus did not put Mary above the other saints, and made her equal with the other saints, and said everybody is as blessed as Mary if they follow God in the truth.

And they pray to Mary, and say they pray to the saints and angels which they should not do.

So maybe they pray to dead Popes for they believe that Peter was a Pope and they have a prayer for Peter, and would consider the Pope a saint and they pray to the saints.

It appears they must be dead before a person can pray to them for they are in the afterlife and they must think they can benefit them.

Precious friend(s), many reasons I will never return to "mother church," (my cradle religion), but the Main One is: the church, tradition, and magesterium

ARE NOT equal to NOR "higher Than":

God's PURE, HOLY, and PRESERVED Word Of Truth!
(Psalms 12 : 6-7; Psalms 138 : 2; 1 Corinthians 4 : 6 KJB!)

Be Blessed!

The Roman Catholic Pope identifies himself as the "vicar of Christ" which means he believes himself to be an earthly representative of Christ.

He does not directly claim to be Christ, as far I know, but he claims to have the authority of Christ to perform functions reserved for Christ. In exercising the station of Pope, he may forgive sins. Since we know that only God is able to forgive sins then the Pope is making efforts to be recognized as God without ever actually directly claiming to be God.

We can't take for granted that people will recognize this and know to avoid the dangers of trusting the Pope to do what God does.

So it's possible people may be looking to the Pope for their salvation rather than Jesus Christ Himself. In effect, I have no doubt some people are worshipping the Pope, but probably not all people.

While Catholics may not worship the pope, they certainly have not called for his resignation either (barring a few who see him as a heretic). Even though he opposes both Catholic and Bible doctrine.

Pope is their high priest. He is their mediator.
In Catholicism the parishioners are to follow the commandments of the pope, which have been written and re-written over the many centuries whether in councils, papal bulls, catechisms, etc...

A catholic friend told me a lot, if not all, catholic priests have group confessions now instead of individual confession. Im not sure how that would work if each one confesses his/sins or if he just absolves the entire group without hearing them.

I’m not surprised this is a serious question on this forum. None of you actually read what Catholics believe from the Catholic sources that spell it out clearly.

Growing up catholic, the focus was on guilt and shame more than God or the Pope.
Brutal. Fear, Guilt and Shame are the three main works of the Devil. That breaks my heart that the church focused on guilt and shame because this focus only causes more guilt and shame. My wish is that all people would drop these senses, for they cloud and confuse. These three characteristics are all things unhealthy.
