I was divorced about 25 years ago. My ex disappeared and I could do nothing to find my children. The law was useless in the situation. About 15 years later, by a miracle, I found my ex's address. I went to see her and it was ok. My daughter eventually became friendly but my son was cold and indifferent. God can thaw the frosty heart. It was my 70th birthday recently. My son bought me a beautifully made and expensve ukulele. I play guitar so the uke is not that hard to learn. It's taken a few years, but God has restored our relationship. He is an introvert so we are not in contact all the time.
Last year I was very ill and could have died. I was not even able to talk to him while i was in hospital. I believe God has used the experience to cause my son to realise that I won't be around forever. There have been other "stepping stones" as well. If you have a similar family problem, keep praying and don't give up hope. God is doing stuff behind the scenes that we are not aware of.
