First, I have a question to start this thread off if someone is baptized in a particular church of certain denomational what does that mean? I've seen people who state they are either baptized as Methodist, Baptist, and so on. I've never been baptized just Christen when I was younger. One of my family member is going to a Baptist church that I was originally going but stop because I felt alone. Now this family member is getting baptized in the summer, my only issue is that they keep trying for me to go with them. My issue I don't 'identify' with any particular branch of beliefs I just state that I am Christ-Follower. I know when you get baptized you are suppose be baptized in the Spirit, and Water. My issue with this is that some of religious organizations want you to be baptized in their way. I hope this makes any sense, please help me out here.
Paul addressed the issue that you're describing here:
I Corinthians chapter 1
[
10] Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
[
11] For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
[
12] Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.
[
13] Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you?
or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
[
14] I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
[
15] Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
[
16] And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
[
17] For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
[
18] For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
You mentioned "denominations" and the word "denomination" literally means "to name".
When it comes to salvation, there is only one name that matters:
Acts chapter 4
[
10] Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that
by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
[
11] This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
[
12] Neither is there salvation in any other:
for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
In Paul's day, some were saying "I am of Paul; and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas; and I of Christ", but it is only the last name that matters.
In our day, some are saying "I'm a Baptist; and I'm a Lutheran; and I'm a Pentecostal; etc., etc., etc."
If anyone seeks to baptize you into their denomination, then run for your life!
Water baptism symbolizes being buried with Christ, so that God might raise you up in newness of life.
